Among Us needs no introduction – the indie mini-game has taken hold of the gaming world. Today, we have 5 tips that could help you be the best Crewmate possible because your spaceship needs all the help it can get!

Crewmates live a hard life of work and impending doom while also doubling as detectives! These tips and tricks will help you achieve some success as a productive Crewmate. You play as one of ten Crewmates trying to investigate who is the killer or Impostor (up to three of those can be around). These Impostors are other players who seek to sabotage your ship and kill you! Find the Impostor(s), save the ship, win the game. Easy, right?

There are many settings that tweak the gameplay before you start a match and they change how the murder mystery game will be played. The person who creates the lobby can choose which settings they wish to play.

The Skeld is the primary map of Among Us included in the first version of the game's launch, with MIRA HQ and Polus being added later. Today, we will focus mostly on The Skeld but these tips and tricks should mostly apply to the other maps as well.

5. Do your Tasks in Pairs

Among Us is all about being able to account for your whereabouts, so a buddy system is a good and simple way to safely move throughout the spaceship as Crewmates.

The Impostor can’t kill you both, but if you are playing with more than one killer, then beware if two or more assassins come running towards you. To counter this, avoid other pairs of players and keep in mind that the Impostor has a cooldown on their kill button.

4. Know the Map and Tasks

When you are discussing with your Crewmates who the Impostor is or where the body was found, you need to know the map and the names of the locations. It is very important that you can also name the different tasks or at least describe them.

Knowing the map and tasks will allow you to provide an alibi for yourself and inform others of the location of the body.

Different tasks on the Skeld

  • Inspect Sample
  • Fix Wiring
  • Fuel Engines
  • Empty Garbage
  • Empty Chute
  • Calibrate Distributor

  • Divert Power
  • Stabilize Steering

3. Quickly Fix Sabotages

Be proactive when it comes to fixing the sabotage event if you wait for another Crewmate to do it, it may be too late. Waiting until the last moment only gives the Impostor the chance to set up their trap and kill you. If no one completes the sabotaged task sometimes the game will end depending on the severity of the sabotage.

2. If you're Unsure, Skip the Vote!

Remember: if you act based on weak evidence, the odds are against you. Most games only have 1 or 2 Impostors and if you vote off a Crewmate, you send them into deadly space, ending their life aboard the ship. This is a free kill for the Impostor(s), so skip the vote when there is little to no proof on who killed whom.

  • Quick Tip: After you die, you can still help your team by completing tasks but you can no longer talk with your team.

1. Use the Admin Room Cameras

Knowledge is power! Inside the Admin room, you can use the security cameras and a map will appear and show the locations of all players currently on the map.

If you monitor who goes into a room, it may also lead you to find out who the killer is, and act as a key piece of evidence when you accuse someone during the open chat meeting.

There you have it! These are 5 basic tips to help you be a better Crewmate and progress towards a win and sus out who is the Impostor!
