The guessing about the setting of the next Assassin's Creed has come to an end: Ubisoft has finally unveiled Assassin's Creed Valhalla in one of the latest live streams.
If you are one of those people who can't get enough of watching artist Bob Ross painting for hours, you surely had a lot of fun with yesterday's unveiling of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. For nearly eight hours, renowned artist Nikolai Baslajik – better known as BossLogic – moved layer after layer in Photoshop. In the end, he created the impressive artwork for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.

Art lessons with Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla revealed
The duration of Ubisoft's art lesson in "Photoshop Skills like a Pro: Paint Assassins" was 8 hours, 10 minutes and 35 seconds, in which the famous Australian artist BossLogic took the role of a teacher and created a true masterpiece in the image editing program Photoshop.
From one silhouette and two different backgrounds, more and more details were added over the hours until the complete work of art was finally finished around 10:00 PM. Finally, we know where the journey with the new Assassin's Creed is heading. But here's the whole stream to follow – very relaxing on a rainy (quarantine) day.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – in the land of the Vikings
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, the name of the new entry, takes us back to the time of the Vikings – a setting that has been rumored since fans discovered an Easter egg in the MMO shooter The Division 2.
The assassin series follows in the footsteps of the god of war, Kratos, who also ended up in Northern Europe in the last God of War game. Official details about the latest part of the series are still lacking, but we would break it down like this: Assassin's Creed meets Vikings. Somehow this reminds us of the well-known series around the Viking Ragnar Lodbrok.
That's supposed to change tonight: At 5:00 pm Ubisoft will unveil the cinematic trailer, which should reveal more about the characters, the world and the gameplay.

What the artwork for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla reveals
- The setting: Valhalla takes place in the time of the Vikings. The artwork shows us some of the first raids of the Vikings in Northumbria, England (right side), while we are also travelling in the Scandinavian Arctic Ocean (left side).
- The protagonist: The main character is obviously a Viking himself, wearing a thick fur coat and resorting to bow and arrow or an axe.
- Longboats: The famous Viking rowboats play an important role. Nautical voyages and ship fights might be making a comeback.
- The raven: Instead of an eagle, as in the predecessors, this time our companion in the air is a raven.
- Great battles: The right side of the picture shows that the battles from Assassin's Creed: Odyssey should also return.
- Female characters: It is unclear whether there will be a female main character as well but the Shield Maiden seems to play an important role, especially in the battles.
It remains to be seen whether Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will playfully follow in the footsteps of its two direct predecessors and come across as a true open-world action RPG. The game is expected to be released sometime between October 2020 and March 2021 – this will likely include a release for the two next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
After all, Ubisoft Montréal has revealed that 14 other studios around the globe are working on the game, so this could be the biggest and most ambitious Assassin's Creed of all time.
Exciting! An immense congratulations to our studio warriors for all the good work and passion building to that reveal. We'd also like to thank the 14 co-dev studios all around the world. You know who you are, and we're thankful for your dedication! Skal! pic.twitter.com/hBPpFZKkrP
