All Maps In Battlefield 2042

Whether you're playing All-Out-Warfare, Hazard Zone, or Portal, you're going to be playing on one of these maps. We know Battlefield are famous for map design, so let's see how well they've done in Battlefield 2042!

Battlefield 2042 had a great many problems on launch. But map-design wasn't one of them. It was actually one of the more well-received aspects of the game. The only concern was how big many of the maps felt on old-gen consoles (in case you didn't know, players on PS4 and Xbox One were limited to 64 players in a game, rather than the 128 that those on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S enjoyed, but the maps were optimized for larger player counts). Here's an overview of every map that the game launched with, enjoy!

Note: Some maps are remasters from older Battlefield games and are only available in Portal, we've marked them as such.

Arica Harbor | Portal (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

Once a busy port, Arica Harbor is now a lethal killzone located in the area of the world’s driest desert. Beware of enemies in the buildings and get ready for fast-paced infantry action and vehicular combat.

This is a fantastic map, and it made a worthy choice for remastering. It stands out against the other maps as actually looking like a site of war; there are sandbags, and gun emplacements, and it all adds to the gritty atmosphere.

Battle of the Bulge | Portal (Battlefield 1942)

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

The German Army has commenced a massive counterattack against a thin spot in the Allied front. Give it your all in the forests and fields of this vast, vehicle-focused map.

This snowy map gives you a sense of the bitter conditions of World War 2, and while its design is a bit plain by today's standards, it does have a great flow. Also, check out how beautiful the water looks on this map in-game.

Breakaway | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

Tread carefully on this dynamic map, where oil extraction has turned the freezing area to a strategic hot spot. Take advantage of destructible fuel tanks and silos that create debris fields and permanent fires when destroyed.

This map is huge. Like, really huge. But... it feels kind of empty. Sadly, the fighting is focused in one area of the map and so while you can go on a long hike over snow-covered hills, it won't really lead to anything.

Caspian Border | Portal (Battlefield 3)

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

A true Battlefield classic, set in the Turkmenistan side of the Iranian border where a recon Russian force has set up camp. The obvious map choice for fans of all-out vehicular warfare gameplay.

One of the things most Battlefield 2042 maps lack are interesting, natural areas. But on Caspian Border, you get an ecologically diverse map that feels great.

El Alamein | Portal (Battlefield 1942)

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

Fought in 1942, the Battle of El Alamein was a crucial clash between the weakened German forces and the resurgent British. Lay down as many mines as possible to greet the Panzer Division with an explosive surprise.

These desert maps can always be a little divisive, because there's really not a ton going on in El Alamein. But it has got us even more hyped for the eventual release of Sinai.

Discarded | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

Along a strategic section of India's west coast, colossal ships stranded on the beach are being stripped for parts. Fight among the hulls of these behemoths while adapting to deadly storms.

This map was such an intriguing idea, but in practice, it leads to a quite mundane back and forth over a dirty beach. Their big error here was proper routing; there are no good flanking lanes, and as a result, you're all congested on the beach.

Hourglass | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

Fight in a city lost to the desertification around it. Massive dust and sand storms are constantly rolling in, blotting out the natural light, as you battle for control of a convoy trapped in the shifting sands.

Hourglass best demonstrates the extreme weather events possible in BF2042, and the sandstorm is really something to behold. But besides this, it's unfortunately barren and lacking in areas for CQC.

Kaleidoscope | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

In a state-of-the-art metropolis in South Korea, zipline between skyscrapers and fight among the plazas surrounding the city's iconic data center.

This was Battlefield 2042's answer to Shanghai, but it felt flat (unlike its skyscrapers). There just isn't enough map here to enjoy. A South Korean city would be awesome, but we want a lot of it - not just one part of one subsection.

Manifest | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

Watch out for tropical tornadoes and navigate through maze-like cargo containers in this key trade location, vital to American supply lines.

This is a very fun map. Many players won't like it on the grounds that it's a night map and this produces visibility issues. But if you can make your peace with that, you'll surely enjoy the twisting turns of this tight map.

Noshahr Canals | Portal (Battlefield 3)

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

U.S. marines launch a strike on a major harbor on the Iranian coast. Prepare for tight infantry combat as well as all-out warfare on this strategically important port.

This wouldn't have been our choice for a Portal remaster, but it was popular with the community, and it's become iconic for the franchise. It's similar to Manifest, but less detailed and varied.

Orbital | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

It's a race against time and hostile conditions as you fight around the site of an imminent rocket launch. Watch out for both enemy fire and upcoming storms on this dynamic map.

This was the beta map for Battlefield 2042, and it is terrible. It feels like three parking lots separated by copy/pasted patches of lifeless green scenery. Yuck!

Renewal | Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

A giant wall, built to secure rich, man-made agricultural areas, takes center stage on this intense map. Prepare for the extreme conditions, deploy, and secure the access points and massive gates in the wall.

Deep in the heart of the Egyptian desert, one wall stands between the barren wasteland and a rich, albeit artificial, plot of farming land. This map has real character, and it's enjoyable for some modes but the wall that runs through the center makes it play horribly for modes likes Hazard Zone.

Valparaiso | Portal (Battlefield: Bad Company 2)

Battlefield 2042's description of the map:

As the second Russo-American war rages, a clash outside this Chilean coastal city becomes a key battle. Prepare for infantry action in the jungle and amphibious attacks on the coast.

This is probably the most detailed of all the maps in Battlefield 2042, and it's great if you want more of a classic shooter experience. But it won't be popular among those who want the huge maps or like to play exclusively with vehicles.

More maps are surely to come as Battlefield 2042 begins rolling out seasonal content, what would you wish for?
