Battlefield 2042 has finally launched. Now it's time to get into the details: what are the best weapons and what attachment setups do you want? Here's the best loadout for the DXR-1.
Don't be deceived by the relatively short barrel on this puppy, it's capable out to a very long range and you won't be experiencing bullet drop-off unless you're pushing silly distances. But enough throat-clearing - here's the best setup guide for the DXR-1.

Best Attachments for the DXR-1
We've provided you with a long-range setup for when you're camping up but we've also got a short-range set up for those who like to stay mobile and an all-around build for when you're on the move.
Best Setup | Best Short-Range Setup | Best Long-Range Setup
Sight | Raven 4X | Bravo 3X | SDB 10X |
Ammunition | High-Power | Standard Issue | High-Power |
Underbarrel | Factory Mounts | Factory Mounts | Factory Mounts |
Barrel | Extended Barrel | Tactical Compensator | Extended Barrel |
The DXR-1, much like the NTW, doesn't open up much room for customization. It's clearly intended for long-range use, and it can particularly excel against vehicles, but the SWS is a better option against infantry. The increased velocity that the extended barrel gives you can certainly make those long-range and tracking shots easier to hit, but it will come at yet another penalty to handling. Our all-around best setup hits the right middle-ground for most users.
You can see the effects of these three attachment setups beneath.
Attachment Effects on the DXR-1
Default | Best Setup | Best Short-Range Setup | Best Long-Range Setup
Firepower | 95 | 95 (0) | 90 (-5) | 95 (0) |
Accuracy | 77 | 82 (+5) | 74 (-3) | 82 (-5) |
Range | 84 | 94 (+10) | 82 (-2) | 97 (+13) |
Handling | 22 | 12 (-10) | 24 (+2) | 9 (-13) |
As you can see, the DXR starts with pretty outstanding firepower and range, but we still want to avoid sacrificing those stats - they're the point of the weapon after all. At the same time, we don't want to tank the accuracy and handling too badly, so we've been fairly careful across all three builds not to disrupt the balance of the base weapon too drastically.
Best Specialist, Secondary Weapon, Throwable & Gadget for the DXR-1
Specialist: Wikus "Casper" Van Daele
He's so god-damn cool. There we said it, and yes, this did somewhat factor in why we chose Casper. But he does also have a great gadget for snipers, and his trait can be crucial in preventing you from being flanked.
Secondary Weapon: G57
The G57 is not a good gun, but crucially it has great handling, and if you do suddenly realize you're sniping position has been flanked the G57 is one of the few weapons quick enough to react. So for a DXR, we're going to recommend this most humble of Glocks.
Throwable: Smoke
Why a smoke grenade if we're presumably camping far away from the action? Because one of the biggest threats to snipers are counter-snipers, and the lack of thermal-imaging scopes in this game make smoke grenades ideal for rotating out of the firing line. It's campy - but it works.
Gadget: FXM 33 AA Missile
One of the best gadgets in Battlefield 2042, in fact, FXM AA missiles are maybe the best gadget in the game. They allow you to down choppers and aircraft with ease, and this works great for a DXR-user because helicopters are often going to target the high altitude camp spots on mountains and skyscrapers.
Well, there you have it, folks, the complete rundown of how to build the best attachment setup and loadout for the DXR-1.
