Best Attachments for the PP-29
In Battlefield 2042 you have the option to bring three attachments in each slot, you can effectively, therefore, bring three different builds for each weapon. And we're capitalizing on that by prepping this weapon with an all-around setup, a short-range setup, and a long-range build.
Best Setup | Best Short-Range Setup | Best Long-Range Setup
Sight | K8 Holo | K8 Holo | Ghost Hybrid 1.25-2.5X |
Ammunition | Standard Issue | Standard Issue | High-Power |
Underbarrel | Rattlesnake Light Grip | LS-1 Laser Sight | LWG Grip |
Barrel | Extended Barrel | Wrapped Suppressor | Extended Barrel |
The PP-29 has 53 rounds in its iconic helical magazine, to begin with, and that's absolutely huge. Some of the best attachments we've found in Battlefield 2042 have been the high-capacity mags, so to get one for "free" is great. We can therefore take standard mags without incurring the usual handling penalty for taking extended ones. This affords us the luxury of having an extended barrel while remaining very mobile. As opposed to most of our other builds, we advise you to stick almost exclusively to the best setup and save the short and long-range setups for rare occasions.
You can see the effects of these three attachment setups beneath.
Attachment Effects on the PP-29
Default | Best Setup | Best Short-Range Setup | Best Long-Range Setup
Firepower | 30 | 30 (0) | 25 (-5) | 30 (0) |
Accuracy | 40 | 50 (+10) | 50 (+10) | 55 (+15) |
Range | 42 | 49 (+7) | 42 (0) | 54 (+12) |
Handling | 60 | 50 (-10) | 60 (0) | 48 (-12) |
The PP-29 is certainly one of the more balanced SMGs stats-wise, in fact with our best setup it's range is almost approaching that of an assault rifle. Therefore, you should bear in mind that this SMG is more capable than you might expect in the mid-range, so don't be afraid to challenge fights that you would deem too far for the K30 or MP9.
Best Specialist, Secondary Weapon, Throwable & Gadget for the PP-29
Specialist: Webster Mackay
There's a reason this Specialist is so popular, he has unparalleled handling and in a close-range gunfight, you can capitalize on that to make the most out of SMGs. He's a perfect choice for the PP-29 therefore.
Secondary Weapon: MP28
As good as 53 rounds in the mag are, you'll still run out, and if you don't have support players nearby you won't get a refill. This is where the MP28 is perfect - unlike the other two sidearms it can take over as your primary weapon thanks to its versatile stat distribution.
Throwable: EMP
If you play with an SMG in Battlefield then you're going to be in the thick of the fight, and that means coming face-to-face with thanks. What the EMP allows you to do is disable those tanks and rotate into a different position. Perfect!
Gadget: IBA Armor Plate
IBA Armor Plates gets recommended a lot in Battlefield 2042 weapon guides, and while they aren't an original pick, they are usually the right gadget to go for. You can focus on your gunfighting, and enjoy the passive buff provided by IBA Armor Plate, everything a PP-29 users wants!
