A new blog post from EA has confirmed that we'll need to wait a couple of months at least for our first Battlefield 2042 season to begin.
Battlefield 2042 hasn't even launched and we're already looking for new content. I suppose that's to be expected in this industry.
Now we already brought you up to speed on how the battle pass will work, and we already told you that each season you can expect content for all three modes: classic multiplayer, but also Hazard Zone and Portal. Well, now we've got an actual timeframe for the first season's beginning for you.
Battlefield 2042's First Season
When Does Battlefield's First Season Begin?
A new blog post from EA has confirmed that the first official season for Battlefield 2042 won't begin until 2022. As they say in the post:
That means for Season 1, you can expect a new Specialist, Battle Pass and Portal content, and maybe even some new sights to see as the story of Battlefield 2042 continues to unfold. Expect more details early next year.
What Content Will We Get In Season One?
We haven't heard any rumors about the Hazard Zone and All-Out-Warfare content, but we'd be very surprised if it doesn't at least include a new Specialist, a new weapon, and a new map. But for Portal things are getting more interesting, a little birdie told us that Battlefield 1 will be the first of the older Battlefield games to be remastered for Portal post-launch. You can read all about that here.
If you want to see what you can already access and do with the current offerings in Portal then you're in luck, the editor for this mode is now available to play around with online. We wrote up a complete guide for you on using the editor, at the moment though it only features content from Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2: Bad Company, and Battlefield 3.
It'll be interesting to see whether this mode is the saving grace of Battlefield 2042. Time will tell.
