Unfortunately, this solution really is that simple (and expensive), if you pre-order the Gold or Ultimate edition of Battlefield 2042 then you will get early access to the game. It's a whole week as well, so that might be worth it if you just can't wait to play. It sucks that standard edition pre-orders don't get this, but then it is EA we're talking about.

It costs $5 a month, or $30 a year, and allows you to play games from the"Play List" for free (not the newest releases but a half-decent catalog).
