Crossplay has been a great feature in recent games, but for reasons we'll get into later, many of you will want to turn it off. So here's a quick rundown for you on exactly how to disable crossplay in Battlefield 2042.
Crossplay - the feature that lets you play with folks on other platforms, we all love it, right? Wrong. It sucks for console users, and we're going to explain why beneath. And then we're going to show you how to turn it off.
Do You Want Crossplay Enabled Or Disabled In Battlefield 2042?
If you're on PC then it's best to have Battlefield 2042's crossplay enabled, but if you're on console, then you want it disabled. Console players will always have an inherent disadvantage against PC players; they have to match the dexterity of someone's whole hand controlling a mouse with just one finger. And aim assist will never bridge the gap. Simply put: PC players should enable this feature, so they can capitalize on the advantages they have, and console players should disable it, so they can face opponents on an even playing field.
Another big advantage to disabling crossplay is that it can prevent you from encountering cheaters if you play on console. On PC, cheaters are sadly unavoidable, it's just too easy for someone to do it if they want, but on console, the only cheats available are those provided by 3rd party hardware. This is far more expensive and gives far less of an advantage than the cheats available on PC, so it's far less common.
How Do You Disable Crossplay In Battlefield 2042?
Crossplay is enabled by default in Battlefield 2042, but it can be disabled via the menus:
- Navigate to “Settings”.
- Scroll down the first tab, “General”, until you find Cross-Play.
- There are two Cross-Play On/Off switches.
- Set these both to Off or On.
You will still be able to matchmake with users on your platform, but you will no longer be able to do so with users on different platforms. This is likely to be a very popular option - console players have almost nothing to gain from playing with PC players, besides cheaters.
Good luck grinding, and we hope this has helped!
