Battlefield 2042 will not have Ranked Mode when it launched on October 22. Electronic Arts have not ruled out a Ranked Mode for Battlefield 2042, but have confirmed that we won't be playing it when the game releases. Here are the details, and everything we currently know about Battlefield 2042's ranked mode.
No ranked? Really? Isn't that a bit bizarre? Everybody loves ranked! Or do they? What am I even asking? Yes, of course they do. When Black Ops Cold War released it didn't have a ranked mode, and had to be added after launch. Everyone was left asking "Hey, why wasn't this just in the game when it launch?" and it seems that EA are making the same mistake. Perhaps. Anyway, the developers have confirmed that Battlefield 2042 won't have ranked mode on launch.

When is Ranked Mode Coming to Battlefield 2042?
Ranked Mode will not come to Battlefield 2042 on launch, but may be introduced based on player demand. Justin Wiebe, who is Ripple Effect Studios' Senior Designer, said that there are no plans for a ranked mode in Battlefield 2042, but that they will listen to the community. If the community pushes for one, then EA and the developers will consider creating one.
Wiebe said the following in relation to a Ranked or Esports Mode in Battlefield 2042:
"There's no plan to have any kind of ranked or Esport mode at launch... This is something that obviously we want to hear more about from the community. If that's something that's important to the community - we'd like to hear about it and we'll kind of see what happens after that."
So, basically, if you want a ranked mode in Battlefield 2042 then you need to put pressure on the developers. It will definitely not come at launch, but if the game comes out and is fantastic, then there may be a huge amount of pressure for EA to turn Battlefield 2042 into a viable Esport. If that's your thing, then you should join in, and put pressure on the developers. Here is the complete interview between Wiebe and Battlefield Nation:
It seems that you may be able to create some kind of Esports competition or mode in Battlefield Portal, the whole new mode coming to Battlefield 2042. The game might not feature a single-player campaign, but will feature Battlefield Portal, which allows you to remake maps, and use your creativity skills in Battlefield 2042. If you wanted to make a ranked mode in Battlefield 2042, then we're pretty sure that you'll be able to do just that!
