EA has already been able to show off a number of modes from Battlefield 2042, and the audience was rightly impressed. But what about a single-player? So far we haven't had any trailers for a campaign or co-op experience. Well, we've got good news and bad news for you.
It's very odd to think that less than two decades ago we were buying shooters for the single-player. Since the rise of online gaming, the single-player campaign experience has felt increasingly like an obligation rather than a passion for devs. It's often tacked-on, so to speak, rather than being integral to the whole.
The fact that campaigns have slipped from popularity doesn't make them irrelevant though; these carefully curated missions can be the ideal way for games to show us what they look like at their best, and allow us to have a meaningful connection with the characters. So does Battlefield 2042 have one?
Does Battlefield 2042 Have Single-Player?
No, Battlefield 2042 will not release with any form of single-player or co-op campaign experience. In lieu of a story, we were given a short film called Exodus instead, which sets up the narrative world of BF2042.
This will come as bad news to fans who enjoy the atmosphere and tone of Battlefield, but we can't rule out the possibility of getting some kind of campaign experience down the road - although it is less than likely. There is one way that people can play alone though...

Bots in Battlefield 2042
If you're looking for an experience you can play alone or for when your internet dies, then don't worry - there will be an option to play normal multiplayer games against bots. And we've even heard that bots can be used in certain modes from Portal. Although, we have not heard whether bots can be used in Hazard Zone.
This isn't the same as a curated single-player experience, but it's still something. What makes this a slightly easier pill to swallow is the recent news the bots are so intelligent we might even mistake them for ordinary human players. Well, we'll have to see it to believe it, but fingers crossed!
