The BLAST VALORANT Twitch Invitational was the last European tournament in Riot’s Ignition tournament series. The Ignition Series has given G2 Esports multiple grand final finishes making them hands down the best team in European Valorant, and maybe even the world.

This was once again proved to be true.

G2 Esports take home another win continuing their domination of the competitive Valorant scene. This time G2 Esports beat FunPlus Phoenix (3-2) in the grand finals of the BLAST invitational. This exclusive event brought together the four biggest names in Europe who battled for a €50,000 prize pool.

Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP), FunPlus Phoenix (FPX), and G2 Esports duked it out in a Bo3 double elimination formant that ended in a Bo5 final.

G2 Esports earned a 1-map advantage by making it to the grand finals undefeated, so it would only take two wins for G2 to win it all. The Bo5 final went to 4 maps as G2 and FPX took turns dominating each other. The fourth and final map was a very close game on Split.

The Tale of the B05:

  • G2 Esports 7 Ascent 13 FPX
  • G2 Esports 13 Bind 4 FPX
  • G2 Esports 6 Haven 13 FPX
  • G2 Esports 13 Split 11 FPX

As usual, MVP Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks had several clutch plays and multi-kills to ensure his team took home the win. When asked in his post-match interview if he thought he was the best player in the world, he responded, “the most impactful player" instead.

Step Aside the Kings Have Arrived

G2 Esports seem to be unstoppable and they have the first-place finishes to prove it. If you haven’t been keeping track of the Valorant pro scene, don’t worry because Oscar "m1xwell" Cañellas has. The Spanish player for G2 Esports declares they are the "Kings of Europe" on Twitter, and it is hard to argue with these results.

The BLAST VALORANT Twitch Invitational adds even more prize money to G2 Esports' bank account and this time the squad walks away with:

  • 1st: G2 Esports - €25,000
  • 2nd: FPX - €12,500
  • 3rd: Team Liquid - €7,500
  • 4th: NiP - €5,000

By the numbers, G2 Esports have won the last six grand finals of different Valorant tournaments. Earning the team nearly €80,000 in the past three months of competition.

This was the final European event in the Ignition Series and Riot’s goal of kicking starting the Valorant tournament scene has been rather successful. The series has had high twitch viewership, shifted several CS:GO pros to the game, and has had several of the biggest esports organizations field teams. I think we can call this a success, and we hope for bigger and better Valorant tournaments in the future.
