Vanguard Weapon Setup Guides - The BAR

Call of Duty: Vanguard launches with a ton of classic WWII guns. But for every gun, we have an astonishing amount of attachments to choose from, and we can use ten at once. So, where do you even begin? What attachments do you need? Don't worry, we'll give you all the answers in our Vanguard weapon setup guides. And today: the BAR.

A lot of folks will overestimate the BAR when they first begin. It's a bit of a trap because the high headshot multiplier can make it feel sometimes like it has the most rapid TTK in the game. But without consistent headshots (and this weapon kicks) you'll get a far more average TTK. That said it's still a really solid long-range choice. But you need to adjust your playstyle accordingly.

Check out our tier ranking of every weapon in Vanguard for an idea of how well the weapon places. It's certainly not a bad gun, but it's not up there with the likes of the STG44 or the MP-40.

The BAR Attachment Setup

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: Chariot 18" Rapid
  • Optic: G16 2.5x
  • Stock: Cooper SP
  • Underbarrel: M1942 Handstop
  • Magazine: .50 BMG 30 Round Mag
  • Ammo Type: Legthened
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
  • Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

The BAR has damn good damage, but is infinitely slow and has really bad recoil. With this setup, we therefore try to bring the recoil down quite a bit and increase the rate of fire. The magazine makes the caliber bigger and thus significantly increases our damage. All in all, this setup provides us with a solid weapon that should still be played at a distance, as it is too clunky for close combat.

The Equipment & Perks On An BAR Loadout

From what we've played so far, the meta loadout will look something like this:

  • Secondary Weapon: Machine Pistol
  • Lethal: Thermite
  • Tactical: Stuns
  • Perk 1: Ghost
  • Perk 2: Radar
  • Perk 3: Demolition
  • Field Upgrade: Armour Plates

The above will almost certainly be the multiplayer meta for a BAR loadout unless they make serious balance changes. The Armour Plates in particular are in need of a nerf, but whether one comes... we'll have to wait and see.
