Today's setup guide covers one of the most played assault rifles in Black Ops Cold War Season 2 – the XM4. Its good balance makes it an excellent all-rounder. Ready to be excellent?

Shortly after the release of Black Ops Cold War, the search for the best weapon in the game began and it didn't take too long as the MP5 was already op in the alpha and beta of the game. Although Treyarch nerfed the MP5 after less than a week, it is still one of the strongest weapons in the game. Here you can find our setup guide:

Traditionally, the strongest weapons are assault rifles because they can be used at longer distances. With the nerf ot the FFAR 1, which had the potential to be the best assault rifle thanks to its high rate of fire, everything now revolves around the AK-47, the Krig 6, and the XM4.

Since both the AK-47 and the Krig 6 have to be unlocked first and have a relatively low fire rate, the XM4 is the hero of the hour in Season 2. It is available for every player from the beginning and has very well-balanced stats. It has a long range, well controllable recoil, very good precision, and in addition – a rather high rate of fire. All this makes it a perfect all-rounder – precise at long distances and fast enough to shine in close combat.

XM4 Setup Season 2

In this guide, we will again present the five best attachments to offer a good setup for players who don't use the Gunfighter Wildcard. If you want to use all 8 attachments with this wildcard, you can fill the remaining slots according to your personal preference.

The most important attachments for a good setup are covered by our five slots.

XM4 Setup

A good balance of range, fire rate, and precision make the XM4 what it is. With these attachments, you get the best out of your assault rifle:

  • Muzzle: SOCOM Eliminator
  • Barrel: 13.5", Reinforced Heavy
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Magazine: 40-Rnd magazine
  • Handle: Airborne elastic wrap

The SOCOM-Eliminator muzzle gives a respectable 85% muzzle flash shielding and significantly reduces vertical recoil. We compensate for the slightly increased horizontal recoil with the Field Agent Grip, which also further reduces the vertical recoil.

The barrel increases our effective damage range by 100% and the projectile speed by 40%. To avoid having to reload constantly, we also recommend a larger magazine. The standard 40-shot magazine has the least disadvantages, making it the perfect choice.

For the last slot, you have a choice between sight or grip. If you can also aim well over the rear sight and front sight, you should choose the grip, as this increases the aiming speed and the resistance to twitching considerably. However, a visor can be just as helpful when enemies are poorly visible. In this case, the Microflex LED with 1.25x zoom is particularly useful, as it restricts the field of vision much less than rear sight and front sight.

With this setup, the XM4 becomes a true laser in Season 2. The recoil is almost non-existent and even at long distances, you can take up the fight with tactical rifles or even snipers. The perfect all-rounder weapon for both newcomers and veterans.
