On January 24th, the 2021 Call of Duty League will properly begin. Here is everything you need to know about the confusing Stage 1 of this season!
The 2021 season of the Call of Duty League will start off with the CDL Kickoff Classic, where teams will be playing one match each against fan-voted opponents between January 23rd and January 24th.
This, however, is more of a… friendly match (in which they shoot each other's heads off, but that’s beside the point).
The actual competition will begin with Stage 1 of the CDL.

The CDL Stage 1 Group Draw
This is the interesting (or rather confusing) part because here, teams will pick who they want their opponents to play against. Sounds odd? Is odd. But don’t worry, everyone scratched their heads when they heard about the format. We’ll try to explain it as best as possible.
The teams that will pick each other's opponents are Dallas Empire and Atlanta FaZe.
Dallas Empire will pick an opponent for Atlanta FaZe and Atlanta FaZe will pick an opponent for Dallas Empire. Then their chosen opponents will pick yet again pick the other two opposing teams and so on and forth.
The group draw will take place on Sunday, January 24th, so if you’re still confused about it, might as well just watch it. You'll understand what's going on eventually and even if you don't... does that really matter in a Call of Duty match? The goal is to kill the other team, like... come on.
