2020 was an incredibly successful year for the entire Call of Duty franchise. Activision hit the ground running with the release of Warzone in March. In total, the publisher made nearly two billion dollars with Modern Warfare and Warzone in 2020 alone.
Many streamers jumped on the hype train, and switched from games like Fortnite, PUBG, or Apex to Warzone, and with great success! Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Call of Duty League also did extremely well. Although all matches had to be played online and not all players agreed with that, we still got an exciting Season with the Dallas Empire winning a deserved CDL 2020 Championship.
Despite the great success of Warzone, some professional players did retire in 2020. But don’t worry! They will stay with us in one way or another.
