A new Call of Duty will be released in 2023, that's for sure. The only question that remains is, when will it be officially announced? Here is everything you need to know!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 are struggling and fans are naturally eager for the next installment in the franchise. Typically, a new Call of Duty game doesn't release until the holiday season, but the marketing for it starts much earlier.
This means that we can expect to hear more information about Call of Duty 2023 very soon.
When Will CoD 2023 Be Announced?
According to Insider Gaming the announcement of CoD 2023 is planned for August 1, 2023. Apparently, plans are to reveal the game within Warzone 2.0, like it was done for Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard as well. Of course, this date has not yet been confirmed and is subject to change.
However, some NBA stars already got a look at CoD 2023. Apparently, some NBA players competing in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas were invited to a small presentation. Sadly, nothing apart from a very bland logo and a few images from the room where the showing took place, was posted to socials:

When was MW2 Revealed?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was already announced this time of the year in 2022. Despite the fact that it had been reported to be Modern Warfare 2 long before the actual reveal, the official announcement was made on April 28, 2022, in the form of a logo reveal. The marketing campaign then progressed with an art work reveal and release date announcement in May, and a gameplay reveal in June.
The marketing efforts began with an event tied to the 2022 NFL Draft, where some prospects were shown early gameplay footage of Modern Warfare 2 and even wore specially designed Modern Warfare 2-branded suits.
However, the 2023 NFL Draft is already over for 2023, so this isn't an option for Activision anymore.
Originally, CoD 2023 was supposed to just be a big DLC for MW2, however, that seems to no longer be the case. According to a report by Bloomberg, this year's game will still be set during a “Modern Warfare” period but won't be an expansion to Modern Warfare 2, nor will it be Modern Warfare 2 itself.
Activision has only confirmed that a “premium Call of Duty game” will be released in 2023.
What do you guys expect from Call of Duty 2023? Are you excited?
Have you seen the video of a cheater in Warzone 2 who accidentally exposing himself?
