Modern Warfare II Way Ahead Of Schedule

A known and trusted Call of Duty leaker just announced that they had received news about Call of Duty's 2022's release. What do we know about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II?

Modern Warfare 2019 wasn't perfect. There were SBMM issues, with a lot of players agreeing it was a little too strict, and the map design certainly left something to be desired. Despite of this, no fair accounting of 2019's Call of Duty could deny that, by-in-large, it was a return to form for the franchise, and the game that brought a lot of players back into the Call of Duty eco-system. It was the boots-on-the-ground experience that fans had been asking for, after one too many futuristic titles.

Thus, quite naturally, it comes as no surprise that Infinity Ward's next CoD is going to be a sequel to that beloved game. We'll welcome it, especially after the travesty that was Black Ops Cold War, and the snooze-fest that will grace our presence in the form of Call of Duty: Vanguard. What do we know about Call of Duty 2022, otherwise known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Next year's CoD game will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, according to prolific leaker and data miner Tom Henderson. The game will be, as expected, a sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare, continuing the story whilst also improving upon the game's multiplayer component, and bringing Warzone back to a more modern setting after the current Caldera and Call of Duty: Vanguard's World War II theme. Additionally, Tom Henderson has made the claim that the game's artwork "looks f**king amazing". We already covered everything we know about Modern Warfare II in an extra article, you can check out here:

How Is Modern Warfare II's Development Going?

Well, according to @TheMW2Ghost, Modern Warfare II is well on its way to be every bit as successful as 2019's Modern Warfare. In fact (and I can't believe I'm saying this about a Call of Duty game), it's actually way ahead of schedule. Here's what the MW2 Ghost said:

TheGhostOfHope also confirmed such rumors just lately:

That's not hugely surprising – Infinity Ward are performing a lot stronger than Treyarch or Sledgehammer right now. It seems most players gravitate towards the mil-sim side of the spectrum, as opposed to the jet pack or grim WW2 shooter vibe.

Can We Trust This Source?

Even if @TheMW2Ghost or TheGhostOfHope were unknown – which they're not, they actually have a long history of being proven right on Call of Duty leaks – the claim here is very believable, and so we're confidant about this leak. Infinity Ward did such a fantastic job with Modern Warfare that, even without further upgrades to the IW8 engine, a Modern Warfare II would be hard for them to 'get wrong'.

This should be hugely exciting for any Call of Duty fans, and the only request we have from a sequel is improved map design and perhaps a slightly less strict SBMM system.
