Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Leaked Online...Again

Early development footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has apparently leaked online. The footage is spreading like wildfire, and it's too late for Activision to contain it. Watch the MW2 gameplay here.

With Modern Warfare 2 nearing release, it's no wonder that so many leaks and rumors are beginning to emerge. The prequel, Modern Warfare (2019), was a hugely successful title, and the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) is considered perhaps the single best Call of Dutyin the history of the franchise. Additionally, we know that Activision's plan to relive the hype of the OG Modern Warfare 2 by cramming this one with remastered maps.

So, needless to say, there's a lot of pressure on the devs currently working on MW2. The fans want this one to be an exceptional Call of Duty. But what does the game look like, so far? Well, according to these leaks, not great...

On May 23 we got a first look at the new third-mode, DMZ. Here's what the DMZ map will look like:

Hopefully you got a good look at that before it's inevitably deleted from Streamable.

[Update May 19] When we originally wrote this article only a couple of clips had surfaced, and they were poor quality, but on May 19 we got one of the most revealing clips yet. Here it is:

As you can see, the operator removes the magazine from what looks like a PP-19 Vityaz, then racks the charging handle with the magazine. Honestly, that seems a little too silly for Infinity Ward, but these days who knows with CoD.

Multiple leakers came out of the woodwork to share a video on Twitter that claims to be Modern Warfare 2 gameplay, from the early developmental stages of the project. It's certainly quite an impressive animation in terms of character movement, but the whole scene takes place in an untextured location. Judge for yourself:

Honestly, it looks so early in the development stage that it's hard to judge the game based on this. But it was at least refreshing to see the character be more fluid and dynamic in their movement, that would certainly be a first for CoD.

As soon as we discover anything else about Modern Warfare 2, we'll be the first to let you know. Until then, why not jump into Vanguard while it's free-to-play?
