The Owen Gun is a classic Australian blaster. This SMG is worth a solid look, and with a good setup, will be a great addition to your arsenal.
Call of Duty: Vanguardhas launched with a ton of classic WWII guns, but for every gun, we have an astonishing amount of attachments to choose from. Seriously, Vanguard offers ten attachments slots per weapon! Where do you even begin? This is madness! Don't worry, we've got all the answers in our Vanguard weapon setup guides, And today: the Owen Gun.
The Owen Gun is a pretty solid SMG in Vanguard, and it's a true-blue Aussie! Honestly, this bad-boy is instantly easy to use, and perfect for playing a more high-speed flanking role in Vanguard's Multiplayer. This speed is only helpful when combined with good control, so we have made sure to keep that as a focus as well. Check out our tier ranking of every weapon in Vanguard for an idea of how well the Owen Gun places. In the meantime, let's talk setup...
The Owen Gun Attachment Setup
- Muzzle: Strife Compensator
- Barrel: Hockenson 305MM Precision
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: Gaiwan H4 Folding
- Underbarrel: M1941 Handstop
- Magazine: 7.62 Gorenko 33 Round Mags
- Ammo Type: Subsonic
- Rear Grip: Grooved Grip
- Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
- Kit: Fully Loaded
With ten attachments, we can do almost anything we want. With the Owen Gun, we're going for a bit of a flanking flex. To do this we keep the accuracy high and allow only a minor drop in speed. In addition, seeing as the Owen Gun has limited ammo capacity, we bang on three extra mags. The Slate Reflector optic is optimal, as we're not going for range in this setup, and we've included both Sleight of Hand and Fully Loaded to increase reload speed and your maximum starting ammo respectively.
The Equipment & Perks On An Owen Gun Loadout
From what we've played so far, the meta loadout will look something like this:
- Secondary Weapon: Panzerfaust
- Lethal: Frag Grenade
- Tactical: Stun Grenade
- Perk 1: Ninja
- Perk 2: Forward Intel
- Perk 3: Demolition
- Field Upgrade: Armor Plates
The above will almost certainly be the multiplayer meta for an Owen Gun loadout unless they make serious balance changes. The Armor Plates in particular are in need of a nerf, but whether one comes... we'll have to wait and see. Generally, though, pairing the Frag and Stun grenades with an SMG is good use of your Lethal and Tactical slots. Meanwhile, Ninja allows you to silently flank around enemies (great with an SMG), and this works together with the Forward Intel which allows you to see their location before flanking. The extra Lethal provided by the Demolition gives you another tool to dispatch reinforcements, as does the Panzerfaust launcher.
