Everyone recognizes the Sten as soon as they see the distinctive side-loading magazine, but what's the best attachment setup for the Sten? Here's the perfect Sten loadout with attachments, perks and more for you.

Readers who played World War 2 shooters before should be familiar with the Sten and its iconic design. In Call of Duty: Vanguard, the Stenis a flexible and reliable SMG. Players who are out for quick run & gun gameplay, will probably love the Sten.

But it has some weaknesses. The biggest one is the pretty massive recoil on the gun. So if you want to play with this little bad boy, you should get as much recoil control as possible. Also, the base damage is not amazing, so boost it with Incendiary ammo. You can make the Sten more accurate as well, but we recommend going for hip fire accuracy. Remember - run & gun is the name of the game.

The Sten has low damage and terrible range. So why use it? Because it's the most mobile weapon in Vanguard, without a doubt. And when you couple that speed and agility with a little thing called Gung-ho you have an absolutely fantastic weapon, especially in the hands of players who can benefit from that speed.

Equipment & Perks for a Sten Loadout

A good attachment setup alone does not make the Sten perfect. A good loadout also includes the right secondary weapon, good perks, grenades and a field upgrade. Should you get tired of the Sten, but like that playstyle, we've also got an alternative but similar weapon to the Sten beneath.

The Best Secondary Weapon for the Sten

The Sten works on smaller maps, and in that environment you don't need a secondary, so take a sidearm. We're taking pistols in the secondary slot, and in this case the Top Break (fyi, this build is doing absolute bits in Warzone right now). If you played MW 2019 the Top Break with M15 Shot is basically the .357 with Snakeshot. In other words, a pocket shotgun.

The Best Equipment for the Sten

Thermite and Flash grenades are the best choices in a Sten loadout. With an SMG loadout, you always want to keep moving and get close to your opponents. With Thermite, you've got great area denial and the ability to cause damage over a longer period of time. While the Flash grenades are great for intense CQC. Throw them in a room or around a corner before you venture out of your cover, and you can easily take out the enemies.

The Best Perks for the Sten

When it comes to perks, we advise you to use Ghost, Tracker and Double Time. This is the trio that allows you to get the fastest flanks as possible going. You're going to be sweeping around the map and storming the enemy in their spawn. If you're playing objective based games there's also huge potential to distract the enemy from the central objective points with this build.

The Best Field Upgrade for the Sten

Short answer: Armor Plates. These are fire and forget; just pop them in to your plate carrier when your Field Upgrade has refreshed and give yourself a passive health boost. Dead Drop is also fantastic if you want to get higher-level killstreaks, but this Field Upgrade will encourage you to play passively, which is counter to the whole enjoyment of the Sten.

When is the Sten Unlocked?

You only have to reach level 8 in Vanguard to unlock the Sten. That's literally an hour or two of multiplayer in any mode, so don't worry, you can start levelling the Sten in no time.

What is the Best Alternative to the Sten?

We advise using the M1928 if you like the Sten. But why so? We assume that Sten lovers are into fast-paced run-and-gun gameplay and always want to be in the middle of the action. This is exactly what the M1928 can do. It has an extremely high rate of fire and a huge magazine. However, it too is appropriate almost exclusively for very short distances.
