Warzone's new Pacific map, Caldera, has finally arrived. There's so much to explore, but for many console-users, there's only one question on their mind: did we get an FOV slider?
Console gamers cry out for one thing in every shooter: FOV settings. A player's field of view is severely limited on consoles, compared to PC, and this gives the latter a huge advantage. They have wider peripheral vision, which means they spot more enemies while looking in a single direction than an equivalent console player. Hence, Warzone fans have been asking for FOV settings on console for a long time now.
The new Warzone Pacific map, Caldera, was thought to be introducing the coveted FOV slider for consoles. This was the big update, the one that was said to bring fundamental changes. But has it?
Did An FOV Slider For Consoles Finally Come To Warzone?
No, unfortunately, we can now confirm that consoles did not receive an FOV slider for Call of Duty: Warzone with the new Warzone Pacific map. You can see settings beneath for yourself:
So, fellow console players, it seems we've been snubbed once again. This will be very poorly received, and is likely to undo a lot of the goodwill Raven have earned themselves with the new Ricochet anti-cheat system. It's just one more reason for users to continue disabling crossplay.
Why Don't We Have An FOV Slider For Warzone?
Warzone is currently run off the Modern Warfare client from 2019, this means it was built on and for the old-gen consoles. The old-gen consoles simply don't have the computing power to render that much at such high frame-rates. So as long as Warzone continues to run off the Modern Warfare client, it won't have an FOV slider. The new consoles are more than capable, and actually do have an FOV slider for Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, which are native games for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. So one day we likely will get the slider, but not this day.
What crushing news, perhaps Caldera's charms can be enough to soften the blow?
