Raven Nerfed Every Meta Weapon In Warzone: Automaton, PPSh, Cooper...

In a huge shake-up of the meta, Raven have come down hard with the nerf-hammer. Everything popular has taken a hit, so where do we stand? And what's the current meta?

Yeah, this does make sense. Almost everyone was using the Automaton, and the PPSh, and so nerfing those two weapons was a good decision for the game. But it's unusual for them to come down this hard on the Warzone meta when it's only been the meta for one week. And other weapons like the Cooper and even the Type 99 deserved to be in the limelight longer before being shut down. We'll detail all the weapon changes beneath, and then answer that burning question: what's the current meta after all these nerfs?

The Weapon Balancing Patch Notes

Before we dig into these, there's going to be a lot of jargon about recoil. This is what each term means:

  • Recoil adjustment: Recoil pattern has changed
  • Recoil Deviation: Amount of randomness in the Recoil pattern
  • Recoil increase or decrease: Magnitude has changed

The Most Important Nerfs

Here are the weapon nerfs that will affect most players and their loadouts:

  • The Automaton has had a massive recoil nerf.
  • The PPSh has had a significant recoil nerf.
  • The Cooper Carbine has had its effective TTK lowered.

They were also quite mean to non-meta weapons, but you can read the full patch notes for yourself beneath.

What Is The Current Warzone Meta?

At this point, the Automaton is a no-go, so most players will gravitate to the STG-44, which seems to be the best low-skill AR, with the NZ and the Bren remaining as the high-skill meta. The PPSH should still be good enough to be effective, but it's too early to say, and other voices are making arguments for the MG42, but it too was nerfed, so we need to do further testing to be sure of its current state. We'll update you as soon as we've got a more complete picture.

Here are the weapons we know to still be strong:
