After the Season 1 Mid-Season Update was released very suddenly and a bit later than expected, we finally know when Warzone & Vanguard Season 2 will start.
We are all eagerly waiting for Warzone and Vanguard Season 2. What new weapons will we get, will there finally be new maps? And most importantly, when will the new season start? We already had to wait for the Season 1 mid-season update, and we didn't get a roadmap or any other communication in advance. We already suspected that the developers were under a lot of pressure. Invisible skins, flying cars, a bunch of problems with RICOCHET and so on. Add to that the fact, that errors like the Whitelist Failure, Error Code 38 or the problem that friends are not shown online, and you get an ugly picture. All these issues have now led to the release of Warzone and Vanguard Season 2 being officially postponed.
When Will Warzone & Vangurad Season 2 Launch?
Warzone and Vanguard Season 2 will launch on February 14. Originally, the second season was supposed to go live on February 2, but the official Call of Duty account posted this statement on Twitter:
We've deployed a number of updates, but more needs to be done. Thank you for being patient while we delay the release of Season Two in #Vanguard and #Warzone to prioritize ongoing work to balance and optimize your current gameplay experience.More intel: https://t.co/dB2ruoguXq pic.twitter.com/iBWEVQFwpf

The developers explain the reason for the postponement in the short tweet as well as in more detail in the attached blog post. As mentioned above, Warzone in particular is once again struggling with countless bugs and Xbox players in particular are complaining about increased crashes. For this reason, the developers have decided to postpone the new season for about two weeks, so that they have more time to fix bugs, glitches and other errors before introducing new content. Here is an excerpt from the official Call of Duty blog:
We will use this additional development time to deliver updates, including optimizations to gameplay, game balancing (including weapon and equipment balancing), to fix game stability and bugs, and to ensure an overall level of polish to improve the experience for players across Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.
The upcoming updates are supposed to fix a number of issues that were mentioned by the community and also bring some quality-of-life improvements. Finally, they also mention that they want to improve their communication about the current state of the game and update the community more regularly.
Sounds like a pretty good plan, to be honest. Considering that every season update has brought new problems to the game, it makes sense to get the majority of the old ones under control first.
Does the postponement of Warzone and Vanguard Season 2 bother you, or do you think it's the right decision? Who knows, maybe the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft will change things significantly for CoD in the future. Maybe Call of Duty will become Xbox and PC exclusive? Or maybe they'll finally stop releasing a new title every year and switch to a two-year cycle.
