T1’s Valorant team grows a bit larger today. The organization announced Sam "DaZeD" Marine as the latest member of the squad.

T1’s Valorant team lost two last month when Austin "crashies" Roberts and Victor "food" Wong left and joined Team Envy. Ever since then the organization has been looking for new recruits to fill in the missing gaps. Today, T1 announced the signing of Sam "DaZeD" Marine as the latest member of their Valorant squad.

DaZeD is a veteran from CS:GO who retired as a player in 2019. He has also played the role of an analyst in various tournaments, so fans are quite familiar with him. It comes as no surprise that in the past he has played for the iBUYPOWER CS:GO team. There he played with AZK, Skadoodle, and Brax. Marine was also banned after the match-fixing scandal related to his former team.

Hints of DaZeD switching to Valorant were all around. Fans that follow the player have surely noticed that Marine played quite a lot of Valorant with Braxton “brax” Pierce. If that wasn’t a clear signal, we don’t know what is. With DaZeD the T1 Valorant roster is as follows:

  • Braxton "brax" Pierce
  • Keven "AZK" Larivière
  • Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham
  • Sam "DaZeD" Marine
  • Daniel "fRoD" Montaner (coach)

That’s basically the CS:GO iBUYPOWER team transferred entirely into Valorant. For now, the mantle of captain remains with AZK but we might see that change soon.

T1 in Valorant

T1 had a really good start in the Valorant pro scene with the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown where they managed to take second place. Fans were excited that their favorite team was one of the best in the North American region but those hopes quickly faded away. In the next few tournaments they attended, T1 had rather disappointing results. Their last event was Pop Flash where they placed 7-8th out of 8 teams.

Perhaps with the addition of DaZeD the team will find the proper synergy. Let’s not forget there’s still the need for a fifth player in the lineup. At this point, it’s almost certain it’ll be someone with a CS:GO background.
