Last month, EA Sports announced that Copa Libertadores and other CONMEBOL features are going to be introduced to FIFA 20. An update released last night made that official and South American FIFA fans can now play in the continent’s most prestigious tournaments.
FIFA 20 update 1.16
The patch notes include more fixes and improvements but without a doubt the main story in update 1.16 is the official introduction of the South American international club competitions. Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa have all been added to Career Mode and Kick Off. The most prestigious of those – Copa Libertadores, is also going to be a playable stand-alone competition in the main menu.
As promised, EA have complimented the South American package with new stadiums, kits, headscans, branding and match presentation.
Here is the full scale of the changes FIFA 20 update 1.16 is bringing:
Gameplay
- Increased the impact of the Overload Ball Side D-Pad Tactic on in-game Stamina.
- Increased the impact of the Constant Pressure D-Pad Tactic on in-game Stamina in order to match the impact of Overload Ball Side.
General
- Added CONMEBOL competitions to Career Mode and Kick Off.
- Added the CONMEBOL Libertadores as a standalone competition in the main menu.
- Added new stadiums, teams, kits, and presentation packages for CONMEBOL competitions.
FUT
- Quick Selling Squad Fitness Items from the Squad Actions menu displayed an incorrect Quick Sell value, and the Item was unable to be Quick Sold.
- Player Pick Items were not displaying correctly on the FUT Champions end of match Rank Progression screen.
VOLTA FOOTBALL
- Avatars recruited after the Tokyo event in the VOLTA STORY were incorrectly retaining an Attribute increase until VOLTA STORY was exited.
- Addressed instances of debug text displaying in the VOLTA SHOP.
Visuals
- Added 17 new Star Heads.
- Updates to multiple kits, stadiums, and ad boards.
All changes will take effect immediately after downloading the update, with the exception of the Star Heads. They will be added to FIFA 20 following a server update.
