The internet is a beautiful place (most of the time). People are just way too creative with all kinds of jokes, and this time they combined two movies that are polar opposites into one beautiful meme.

As a little recap, Oppenheimer will be a historically accurate depiction of the events surrounding the development of the atomic bomb. Christopher Nolan promises to delve deep into the personal struggles, conflicts, and internal battles faced by the notorious physicist.

The Barbie movie on the other hand is a colorful (mostly pink) comedy about the most popular over the top girly doll that ever hit the market. The over-the-top comedy is almost sickeningly pink and just overall pretty much the exact opposite of the bleak war drama it gets matched up with.

Now that we explored these two movies a little, how about we get a little deep-dive on how they got mixed up in all the memes.

Barbie vs. Oppenheimer – Which One Will Be THE Blockbuster?

With all the differences we already pointed out for the movies, there are a few things they have in common.

They have both been directed by critically acclaimed directors, are a character based story (with a wildly different setting that is), got high expectations going for them but probably most important, they share the same release date!

This might seem arbitrary, but it actually isn't. Most memes about the two movies revolve around watching both movies back to back on the same day.

This isn't the first time the internet has taken two vastly different releases that come out on the same day and combined them into a viral meme. The same thing happened when Doom: Eternal and Animal Crossing released on March 20, 2020.

For a while, you couldn't open social media without seeing the Doom Slayer and Isabelle together, and now it's the same thing for Oppenheimer and Barbie.

It probably wouldn't have happened if people weren't excited about both movies, though, but with how much people just don't want to decide between the two, they're just going to have to watch both movies.

If you love movie facts, this scene of the Spider-Verse movie was made entirely by a 14-year-old:
