Chris Hemsworth revealed that his time as Thor might be coming to an end, following concerning health diagnosis.
Chris Hemsworth is one of Marvels picture perfect casting choices that really elevated the whole MCU to its all-time high. Sadly, it seems like the golden era of Marvel is coming to an end, as our favorite Norse god might retire sooner than we expected.
In an Interview with Vanity Fair Hemsworth opened up about his future not only within the MCU, but regarding acting in general.
Chris Hemsworth On His Future As Thor And Acting In General
During filming for his new docuseries called Limitless, Chris Hemsworth was confronted with the fact, that he has an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease.
This put things into a new perspective for the actor, who now wants to prioritize maintaining his physical and mental health, delay the disorder for as long as possible and spent as much quality time with his family.
Here are some movies for you to enjoy, now that Chris might take a break from acting:
This means taking a step back from acting and maybe a permanent departure from his iconic characterization of Thor. Regarding his future as the God of Thunder, Chris stated:
I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know — am I at that stage? Who knows?
Maybe this is for the best, as the classic MCU formula has gotten a bit stale, but we will still miss our muscular Australian Norse God. He really managed to bring this fictional character to life and deserves all the credit for it.
You can still enjoy Thor in the new God of War: Ragnarök. He looks a little different, though.
With regard to acting in general, Hemsworth admitted that he wants to take a break from acting and that he would only leave his family for filming, if it was a "positive experience". That includes but is not limited to a Thor sequel under Taika Waititi.
So yeah, we might be able to experience the God of Thunder in action one last time, but for that he needs "something unique and fresh and unexpected to do with the character and the world". So we're not the only ones who think things got a little stale and repetitive.
Hopefully we will be able to see Chris Hemsworth back, but most importantly we hope he stays in good health and can enjoy the time with his family.
