Emily in Paris has been taking Netflix by storm ever since it came out in 2020. I just recently finished season 3 myself, and I don't know how long I will survive with that cliffhanger in mind. Like, seriously, it's très terrible! Ok, sorry, I'll stop with the bad French for now. I did Rosetta Stone on the plane, but it hasn’t kicked in yet. Wait, no, that was Emily...

Whatever. Anyway, it's time to dig into the facts that we know about Emily in Paris' season 4 so far, and when we expect the next season to be released!

We already know that Emily in Paris has been renewed for a fourth season and that it is already in production, but when will it be released?

Well, as Mindy famously said: "The French are romantics. But they’re also realists.". But I'm not French, nor am I a realist, so at first I liked to think that Emily in Paris would return somewhere around December 2023 or January 2024, just as had been the case with previous seasons. Unfortunately, there have been quite a few hurdles that have postponed the production of season 4.

In a more French approach to the situation: season 4 of Emily in Paris will probably release somewhere in summer 2024. Originally, Variety revealed that Emily in Paris season 4 was being filmed right after season 3 was wrapped, but it still seems as though filming was delayed for a while.

There are two big reasons as to why Emily in Paris still hasn't been filmed yet. For one: the SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes which were going on at the time and which also hit Emily in Paris' production. The SAG-AFTRA strike still hasn't finished, which means that the production will probably still be on hold for a while.

The other big reason are the Olympic Games that are going to be held from July 26 to September 8, 2024. While it's still a while away, as Variety has reported, Paris has set strict filming guidelines for film and TV, that will start this winter and will go on until October 31, 2024. Usually Emily in Paris is filmed in the Cité du Cinema, but the studio has been reserved for the Olympic Games starting in about mid-November.

So, the show will be forced to film in a different studio, but Emily in Paris supposedly already has a back-up studio to film in, the Studios Monjoie. The outdoor scenes will still be filmed on the streets of Paris.

Since the strike is still not finalized, nor are the scripts, it will still take some time for the series to begin production. Apparently, they plan to start filming at the beginning of 2024, about half a year later than originally planned, so we can hope that season 4 will be released around the middle or end of next year, if the strike continues on for a while.

Emily in Paris Season 4: Plot Theories

After that whirlwind of a season finale that we experienced, where will the show pick up?

Last we saw Emily and her friends, they were at Camille's family's residence in Champagne, celebrating Camille and Gabriel's engagement! Except that the engagement party quickly turned into an elopement, and all of a sudden, Gabriel and Camille were standing in front of the altar, exchanging their "I dos".

Camille's turned into an "I don't", because she finally decided to confess she broke the pact that she had made with Emily, so she could get together with Gabriel, and adds that "you and Emily have been in love with each other since the moment you met", which basically breaks Alfie's heart into two.

After that, Alfie leaves and Gabriel reveals that him and Camille got back together and engaged so quickly after she came back from Greece (where she cheated on Gabriel) was because Camille is pregnant! #OhCrepe

Honestly, I hope that season 4 will clean up the chaos that season 3 left behind because I am #teamalfie, and I want him to be happy. The man deserves better. Either way, we'll have to see if Camille ends up having the baby with Gabriel and if they will co-parent while Gabriel gets together with Emily? Or will Gabriel turn everyone down to get his Michelin Star for his restaurant, so he can take care of the baby in the future?

Oh, and we also have Mindy's whole relationship drama to unravel and find out if she wants to stay with Nico or if she'll get back together with Benoît. That, and if she will actually go to the Eurovision Song Contest with her band. Then there's also the whole work situation between Julien and Emily, so we'll have to see if he will continue to strengthen his inner rivalry with Emily.

There's definitely a bunch to unpack – and pack. Your bags, Camille. Go. You can't live with Gabriel anymore.

Emily in Paris Season 4: News

Like we mentioned earlier, Emily in Paris was not spared from the SAG-AFTRA strike, which meant that the production of the show was stopped for at least two months and continues to be on hold. The Olympic Games 2024 also make filming the show a bit harder than most likely presumed. As is mentioned in the official announcement video, Emily might travel to Rome in season 4, so perhaps they'll wrap up filming in Paris quickly to move on to Italy, where there should be less of a problematic filming situation.
