The Incredible Hulk is coming to our favorite streaming platform, and we couldn't be less excited.
The MCU is a pretty big franchise, with many different products to enjoy, feel indifferent about, or generally despise. There isn't a lot of character development, but there are a ton of explosions to enjoy and a bucket-load of love to be shared. That's about where The Incredible Hulk sits in the discography: just one giant explosion.
Bizarrely, though, Disney+ isn't willing to pick up this genuinely disappointing product, despite the rest of Marvel making its home on the streaming platform. This leaves HBO Max, the home of fantastic shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Game of Thrones to take up the mantel. It might seem a bit out of place, but maybe the bright green skin of Hulky will lighten up the place?
It's also kind of strange news to come during a period of genuine upheaval for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still reeling over the events of Avengers Endgame, it has been rather directionless as of late. Sure, the last Spiderman was great, but with Stranger Things Stars joining nameless television shows, Wolverine being a decent way off and the franchise's biggest news seeming to be yet another Fortnite crossover, we're not sure this HBO Max news is going to cut the metaphysical mustard.
When is The Incredible Hulk Coming to HBO Max?
The Incredible Hulk will make the leap to HBO Max on April 1, 2022. We're really confused about this decision but, hey, we don't work for HBO or Marvel, and I am certainly not a business person. It must make at least some sense, otherwise they wouldn't have done it... right?
Either way, though, this isn't the best Marvel film to be checking out at the moment. It's more than a decade old and, well, it was the second movie in the franchise, so you've probably already seen it. Let's give you a li'l bit of context, though, just in case you haven't actually seen the movie.
The Incredible Hulk is a 2008 movie that came out between the release of Iron Man 1 and 2 (both far superior films) and featured Edward Norton as Bruce Banner / The Hulk. Yeah, that's right, you don't even get to gaze longingly at Mark Ruffalo's abs in this one... so again, why, HBO, why?
