Come on, we all had imaginary friends when we were little. But unlike in the new movie 'IF', which stands for 'Imaginary Friends', they didn't really exist. Yep, this movie is essentially about a little girl that can see her imaginary friends, and she continues to see them even when her peers have long since left imaginary friends in the past.

Is that a compelling hook, to you? Check out the trailer below if you think you might be interested.

IF Trailer & Release Date

As you can see, it's a live-action action movie with CGI doing the bulk of the heavy lifting, but thankfully it looks well-done.

While the trailer only tells us that it is going to be released in May, we already know more deets. IF will be available in theaters on May 17, 2024.

IF Cast

Ryan Reynolds! Yep, Ryan Reynolds will be in the movie, which is already reason enough to watch it. But, he can't play the little girl, of course. That role will played by the young Cailey Fleming. And as the trailer suggests, the film will mainly be about her imaginary friends.

Next to these incredible actors, we also got a ton of other great supporting actors. In one of the 'Behind the Scenes' videos, Josh Krasinski, the producer of the film, mentions the following other cast members:

"The cast is insane. I know for a fact I will never get a better cast than this. And playing imaginary friends we have Steve Carell, Matt Damon, Jon Steward, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, Maya Rudolph, Sam Rockwell, Louis Gossett Jr., Sebastian Maniscalco, Chris Meloni, Richard Jenkins and Awkwafina."

Wow. That's what I call an ensemble cast. We're getting a total of 12 IF's voiced by a bunch of popular actors. And to take it up a notch further, we're also getting Fiona Show, known as Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter movies , as the grandmother of the girl.

These are all the deets you need to know about IF! You better buckle up for the probably best live action animated movie in 2024!
