You don't know this -because how could you - but I love mythology. I adore it, in fact, and there's little I love more than the Roman and Greek mythology, and standing near the pinnacle is Hercules. If you're not familiar with Hercules' story, suffice it to say, that it is epic. Still, for some reason, no one has ever done Hercules justice. We either got a watered down version, cartoons, or whatever it was that The Rock and Arnold Schwarzenegger were doing... Now, this is all subject to change, because masterminds are at work on the next live-action Hercules movie.

Russo Brothers Are Directing New Hercules Movie

If the name Russo means nothing to you, then you must have never watched a single Marvel movie. All of Marvel's greatest were in the hands of the Russo brothers, who are synonymous with the Avengers, and who are now taking the reigns on this Hercules project. The real Hercules' story is one marred by tragedy, after he caused the death of his family and redeems himself with the famous 12 labours. This take by the Russo brothers, will, apparently, put a "modern spin" on that, and if it were anyone else saying that, I'd be worried.

It will certainly pay homage to the original with a more modern spin on it. What Anthony and I love about the original is how funny and subversive it is. I think we try to embrace that sense of humor in the remake.

What they're referring to as 'the original', is the animated Hercules movie from 1997. What they mean by "modern" and "laughs", I'm not sure, but I'm getting Thor vibes. Oh, and by the way: The one to direct the Russo brothers' vision will be Guy Ritchie. You know, Aladdin, Snatch, King Arthur, Sherlock Holmes.... the guy knows his stuff. And if you want a Hercules game, well... God of War comes pretty damn close to that, and is actually more mythologically accurate than all the other adaptions, in some ways.
