We finally got our first good luck at the upcoming Amazon Primer series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Here's everything you need to see.
Thanks to a first-look feature from Vanity Fair, we finally got our first look at Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Vanity Fair shared some details on the story we can expect from the upcoming show, which takes place long before the War of the Ring, long before the story of Frodo and even well before Bilbo. Now, we finally got a first glimpse at the Middle Earth we can expect in this show.
First Look At Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
#TheRingsOfPower, set within Tolkien's Second Age, will juggle 22 stars and multiple storylines-from deep within the dwarf mines to the elven kingdom of Lindon. Here, the adventures of the fellowship are still some 2,000 years in the future.: https://t.co/Tabxf9CzoL pic.twitter.com/FOQFHUKNQ3

Sexy. That's what a show that costs almost $200 million for one season is supposed to look like. The black elf you see above is interesting, since elves are mostly associated with very fair and pale skin. The elf in question is a silvan elf, who goes by the name of Arondir. As for the happy couple, you might just remember them: That's Elrond and Galadriel, while the third character is a new one: Halbrand.
Of course, there are more tweets, revealing more of the story and the world:
Robert Aramayo plays Elrond, the elven statesman who is just beginning to build his reputation-starting with mending the relationship between his people and the dwarves of Khazad-dum.: https://t.co/Tabxf9CzoL pic.twitter.com/TE4xjdG5bJ

Despite being set thousands of years before the stories we know, familiar immortals do turn up as their younger selves: Morfydd Clarke as the elven queen Galadriel, now a hardscrabble warrior leading the Northern Armies.: https://t.co/Tabxf9CzoL pic.twitter.com/qZvMELiNqt

The stormy picture above is Halbrand and Galadriel, while the sunny boy is young Elrond himself. According to Vanity Fair, Elrond will play a major role in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
In a bold move, #TheRingsOfPower condenses Tolkien's Middle-earth timeline and adds entirely new characters. Sophia Nomvete's dwarven princess, Disa, and Ismael Cruz Cordova's Silvan elf, Arondir, broaden the notion of who lives in Middle-earth.: https://t.co/Tabxf9CzoL pic.twitter.com/s2MXkGpQXm

Above, you see Disa, a dwarven princess, and another new character created for the series. Again, it is noticeable that the Amazon series clearly looks to include various ethnicities – something the movies never did, and something the internet is sure to go ape-sh*t over.
At its core, #TheRingsOfPower takes its biggest cue from the heart of Tolkien's books. "It's about friendship," says McKay. "It's about brotherhood and underdogs overcoming great darkness.": https://t.co/Tabxf9CzoL pic.twitter.com/VX5FmTOteN

All in all, the show will "juggle 22 stars and multiple storylines" across many different locations, from "deep within the dwarf mines of the Misty Mountains to the high politics of the elven kingdom of Lindon and the humans' powerful, Atlantis-like island, Númenor."
Story-wise, the show will revolve around the forging of the rings, and Sauron will play the main villain, with his one ring to deceive them all. The first episode is titled "Shadow of the Past", and will be released on September 2, on Prime Video. Season 2 is already in pre-production, so we can look forward to... maybe a decade of great LOTR television.
