Monolith Productions are the developers of the Middle-Earth games, which are set between The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings Books, are working on Middle-Earth 3. The game will be a next-gen-only game likely on the PS5 or PC and feature a massive open world like Skyrim. The game is rumored to be officially announced at E3 2021.

E3 could be the place we learn about this rumored Middle-Earth 3 game quietly in development at Monolith Productions. The official title of the third installment in the Middle-Earth Game Series has not been announced, but the previous two titles were Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle Earth: Shadow of War and were released in 2014 and 2017 respectively. Monolith has had no game releases since 2017, so the studio is due for something big.

A recently deleted Reddit leak claimed several interesting details about the new Middle Earth 3 game. Including a massive open-world similar to the one seen in Skyrim and horseback riding. This would be an impressive feat because Skyrim’s open-world has no loading screen unless you enter a building or dungeon. The infamous Nemesis system should be in this game as well. This system claims that the enemies 'learn' after fighting you. Based on a previous job posting at Monolith Productions it seems to suggest that Middle-Earth 3 will use the Nemesis for both orcs and humans which means you should be able to fight all kinds of enemies in this upcoming title, and they will learn how to beat you.

Will Middle Earth 3 Be Announced at E3?

This has a pretty high chance of happening because the game studio Monolith Productions is known to be working on the Nemesis system and a Lord of the Rings game for some time now. The company is due for some good press as they totally missed the mark with Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, which was full of microtransactions and loot boxes. They eventually removed them after fans literally wrote to JRR Tolkien himself! No, not really, since you know...he's with Frodo and Bilbo in the Undying Lands of the elves.

We have to wait until E3 2021 to see if these rumors lead us to the One Ring or only into the fires of Mount Doom.
