Mark Hamill has a pretty bizarre opinion on Star Wars' classic Christmas Special. Oh well, each to their own, I guess...
About forty-five years ago, the original cast of Star Wars convened for what would go down in history as one of the weirdest moments pop culture would ever see: the Star Wars Holiday Special. This bizarre Christmas film featured all of the hits. From Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker to Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher as Han Solo and Princess Leia, the stars piled in for this extravaganza. What happened was... well... bizarre.
Now, in a world of exciting new content – a new Lego Star Wars out this week, and a limited Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Show coming in the near future – Mark Hamill has something to say. What is it that he has to say? Well, he has commented on the Christmas Special... of all films... and he has an opinion that many of you will find rather... interesting.
The funniest thing about this particular story is actually not Mark Hamill's opinion itself, but the context within which he shared said opinion. Thus, let us begin with that: Mark Hamill responded to a completely random Twitter question from an account called "Star Wars Stuff". The question? Well, the question asked for "your unpopular Star Wars opinion".
That's right, Hamill follows a random forking Twitter account and sometimes answers questions they pose to their audience. That's pretty awesome, isn't it?
What Is Mark Hamill's Unpopular Opinion On The Star Wars Christmas Special?
Mark Hamill feels that the Star Wars Christmas Special "was underappreciated". Well, well, well, Hamill is a fan of the random, wacky and weird Holiday episode. I don't actually totally disagree with him here. Sure, the episode itself was... let's just say... not the best... but it was certainly "underappreciated".
After all, there were some pretty great moments in the episode, and it is certainly a project that went relatively under the radar. I'm sure that quite a few of the people reading this article hadn't even heard of the Christmas Special, and even fewer have actually seen the darn thing. Look, there are some very funny moments, but you haven't missed out on much.
That being said, it is a lot of fun, the characters are all there, they're chilling and enjoying Christmas, it's all very weird. What's not to love? Hell yeah, Mark Hamill, it totally is underappreciated!

So Mark Hamill is a fan of an incredibly fun, harmless gag episode of Star Wars that was lost in the annals of time. It's a sad, sad story, the story of the Star Wars Christmas Special. I am pleased to see Mr Hamill giving it some love, and perhaps bringing a bit more attention to something that was – quite honestly – a gem of the late 1970s. Go watch this bizarre bonanza, seriously, you won't regret it!
