The exciting new Obi-Wan Kenobi show has seen a two-day delay, but will be bringing both of its first two episodes to Disney Plus when it premiers. Ewan McGregor delivered the news in a short forty-one second YouTube announcement. His beautiful Scottish voice may have quelled the disappointment in our heart, but we're still a little bit bummed to have to wait longer.

This will be the first time the McGregor has revived his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi since the third prequel film, Revenge of the Sith, in 2005. Reports suggest that Hayden Christensen will also be making an appearance (presumably as Darth Vader) in the limited series, with the show being an opportunity for the duo to make up for the negative reputation that the prequels have garnered over the last two decades.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Release Date Delayed

Obi-Wan Kenobi will not release until May 27, 2022, but will drop both of its first two episodes on the same day to make up for it. We are actually pretty happy with this outcome. I mean, after all, it's the perfect opportunity to drop off work with some mates, grab a beer and some chippies and sit down at your television for some fabulous Star Wars action!

Here's the announcement. Watch it. It features Ewan McGregor's sexy, sexy voice.

Since the last trilogy kind of crashed-and-burned towards the end there, we honestly haven't really got much in the way of good Star Wars content since Rogue One debuted in 2016. The Last Jedi was a complete disaster and, thus, The Rise of Skywalker was similarly disappointing. Solo? What even was that movie?

In the end, what we want is a return to the quality of those original films, with an eye for the universe and good storytelling. It seems to be possible in The Mandalorian, and Ewan McGregor is a darn good actor, so hopes are certainly high. That all being said, though, he starred in the much-maligned prequels as the titular character and... well... we all know how that went!

So there you have it, folks, Obi-Wan Kenobi is no longer coming out on May 25 and, instead, will be out on May 27. It's only a two-day delay and also comes with the added benefit of both of the first two episodes releasing concurrently, so really there's nothing to be sad about here. Unless you have only one Kenobi. Then you'll have a problem. Okay, I'll stop.
