Turning video games into movies or television series doesn't always work out, but this is a project everyone should be hopeful for and which looks like it can be a huge success.
Video games making it onto the big screen is nothing new. League of Legends managed to wow the world with Arcane and The Last of Us blew everyone away with its insane story telling. But now another great game is going to be turned into a movie.
BlueTwelveStudio's revealed that they're going to be turning their hit game from 2022, Stray, into a movie according to a press release.
Stray Is Being Turned Into A Movie
According to a press release, Stray is going to be turned into a movie. The film will be animated by Annapurna Animation, which is a newly launched animation division by Annapurna Interactive who initially also published Stray.
The game was a huge success and many wondered whether a Stray 2 would be in the works, but it seems that while we aren't – yet – getting a new game, we will get to experience the life of a cat once more, only this time from a more passive viewpoint.
The movie will be spearheaded by Nick Bruno, who directed Nimona, as well as former Disney Animation executives Robert Baird and Andrew Millstein. So this is looking pretty stacked already.
In the same press release it was also revealed that Annapurna Animation is looking to turn more Annapurna titles into movies and shows, so we could be getting even more film and television in the coming future.
Which titles would you like to see them animate? Outer Wilds maybe? Or something more on the silly side like Donut Country?
