TikTok is a weird place sometimes. The platform started out with people doing dance videos, and now we have people pretending to be NPC's while livestreaming. Here's the viral NPC trend on TikTok explained (at least I'll try).

TikTok has become one of the biggest social media platforms out there and has become the place, where new trends develop first. The platform's content has evolved from lip-syncing and dance challenges to a diverse range of short-form videos and even livestreams. The app's algorithm tailors content to user preferences, contributing to its addictive nature and global popularity.

The content on TikTok has diversified so much, that you can pretty much find everything you could possibly want. Don't believe me? There's even an NPC trend that is popping off among livestreams on the platform right now!

TikTok's NPC Trend Explained: Livestreaming Taken To A New Level

TikTok really never ceases to amaze with the amount of weird trends that just keep coming! The newest addition to this confusing onslaught is the NPC trend that has been everywhere recently.

If you have been active on social media, you probably stumbled upon one of these clips.

If not, bless your innocent soul!

These clips are taken from a livestream by the TikToker PinkyDoll who has recently been blowing up thanks to this type of content.

As the name implies, the NPC trend aims to portray the content creator as a Non-Player-Character (NPC) that has a set of reactions that he keeps repeating.

In this case, streamers like PinkyDoll react to the donations viewers can send during a livestream by saying things like "Ice cream so good", or "gang gang” while also acting out the emoji associated with the donation.

The appeal of streams like that, probably lies in the control viewers have over the content creator, as they can for example donate ice cream (don't know how much money that is) to have her perform the according movements.

Apparently, this trend is something people on TikTok have been craving, and the creators can easily make bank, because viewers are willing to pay for these NPC reactions.

If you're asking yourself who the f*ck would pay for this, apparently the popular artist Timbaland is an avid fan of PinkyDoll's content!

Right now, there are new NPC streams popping up on the platform left and right, with more and more creators are capitalizing on this viral trend. Even popular creators like Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed have jumped onto the hype train, so at least for the near future, it seems like the NPC trend is here to stay...sadly.

Some content creators are just cursed:

Robert Bachhuber

As a master graduate of sociology who wrote his thesis about Twitch, Robert knows a fair share about streaming. Adding to that, he loves binge-watching TV shows, so he got entertainment covered....
