In early September, Netflix dropped the third season of Top Boy, putting the crown of Summerhouse's Top Boy up for grabs. The burning question remains: will the tale go on? Can we anticipate a season 4?
You know the drill: Spoilers ahead, if you haven't caught up with season 3 of Top Boy, you better stop reading!
People in Summerhouse are well accustomed to death and chaos, but season 3 raised the stakes to an entirely new level. Even in the absence of Dushane and Sully, there are still quite some questions we need answered: who really took out Sully? And the situation with Jaq, Beck, and Lauryn's child?
Clearly, the Top Boy universe has more stories to tell. Now, it hinges on whether Netflix chooses to capitalize on that, by giving fans what they desperately want. Top Boy season 4!
No Season 4 For Top Boy: "Every story must have an ending"
Obviously, Dushane and Sully have been the core of the show. With both of them gone, a new season would need to completely shift main characters. Possible, right? Yet, that's going to be it: season 3 of Top Boy is its final season.
Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson – Dushane and Sully in the show – have released a statement about the final chapter of Top Boy, talking about how much the show means to them and how grateful they are. More importantly, they answered the most important question:
With all this being said, and staying true to our original goal, every story must have an ending and so season three will be our finale. A chance to come full circle and end the journey in the right way.
And apparently, the decision to end with season 3 came from the cast, not from Netflix. In an interview with GQ, Ashley Walters shared that he likes to "end on a high." And well, the last episode of season 3 was one hell of a finale for sure, so he's got that down.
Netflix hasn't revealed any other plans for Top Boy either. It's quite likely that that was it and we'll leave the Summerhouse for good with no spin-off and certainly no season 4 to look forward to.
