Video game adaptations started a little more promising in the last couple of years, with bangers like Arcane, the Super Mario Movie, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners getting people excited for more. Realized something? None of these are live action adaptations. So when a Twisted Metal live action adaptation was announced, people were torn, and the first trailer didn't really help change that.

Twisted Metal is a long-running video game franchise known for its chaotic car combat. Players assume the role of eccentric drivers battling in heavily armed vehicles to the death.

With a mix of unique characters, dark humor, and destructible environments, Twisted Metal delivers adrenaline-pumping vehicular mayhem across various post-apocalyptic arenas.

Twisted Metal: First Look At Sweet Tooth & John Doe

The trailer starts off with Sweet Tooth (the iconic poster child of the franchise) giving John Doe (played by Anthony Mackie) a solid beating, dropping punch-lines all over the place.

The costumes and setting are looking promising, but the dialogue and their interactions are just so goofy that you can't even enjoy the beat down.

At one point, Sweet Tooth starts playing some “kill music”, blasting a song about thongs, while slamming Anthony Mackie into a slot machine. The scene continues with the two of them singing along to the song, bonding in the process.

  • If you want to play a wide variety of games, you should check out Game Pass! Twisted Metal might be in there, too.

A trailer is supposed to get people hyped for the show, but this sneak peek kind of did the opposite.

At one point, Mackie points out a major problem fans have by saying, "any chance we can get this back in the cars?”. The Twisted Metal franchise is all about the crazy and chaotic car combat, so why are they trying to sell people on the show by having two major characters bond over a song about thongs during a bar brawl?

There's also criticism regarding Sweet Tooth's portrayal as, in the games, he is one of the most ruthless and psychopathic murderers you could imagine, while in this sneak peek he is a freaking Saints Row character!

We will have to wait and see how things will ultimately shape up in the show, but this trailer didn't really help to get people hyped for this show.
