After Benjamin Mendy was charged with rape allegations, EA removed him from FIFA 22. There are still a few cards on the market, but these will be withdrawn from the game soon. The incidents are said to have occurred between October 2020 and August 2021, one of the alleged victims was a minor.
Benjamin Mendy removed from FIFA 22
Mendy has been accused of rape and sexual assault on four different occasions. The trial is due to start on January 24th, with a first meeting in November. Mendy has already been suspended from Manchester City and the French national team, which is why EA has now taken him out of the game.
The 27-year-old started his career in France at Le Havre, then moved to Olympique Marseille. There, he showed his qualities in the left-back position and was convincing both offensively and defensively. He then moved to AS Monaco. In Monaco, he delivered once more, which is why Manchester City started to get curious. The Cityzens spent a total of 57 million euros on him in 2017, but many injuries stopped his progress in Manchester.
Although there are still a few cards from him on the market at the moment, he has already been completely removed from kick-off mode and also for the official release on October 1st, the left-back will completely disappear from Ultimate Team.
This is not so unusual for FIFA, Marco Van Basten was removed from FIFA 20 after a scandal. Often such situations also have an influence on the transfer market: the "remaining" cards are bought up so quickly that the price has no limit. That’s why the price of Mendy has gone up, too. But as I said, it will soon be completely removed from the game. So no pressure. Some people with too many coins have to show their rich balls. Nothing to worry about.
Mendy remains in custody until January. An English court already rejected a request to release him for the time before the trial. The court session in January is supposed to last two and a half weeks, before that, he will not be released. Manchester City responded a short time later with a brief statement. "Manchester City can confirm that Benjamin Mendy has been suspended for the time of the investigation as a result of the allegations made by the police," the club wrote on its website.
