FIFA 22 Title Update 14: Patch Notes

The FIFA year is coming to an end. After the Title Update 13 at the beginning of June only made some bux fixes, this time we get a huge gameplay update! There is a new skill move, new knuckleball animations, auto blocks have been nerfed and low driven shots and R1 shots have been buffed. Holy cow! R1 shots were already totally op, and now they get even better. Also, skill moves can now be executed faster, it's going to be so sweaty, I'm telling you!

These were the patch notes for FIFA 22 Title Update #14:

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team

Addressed the following issue:

  • The "Compare Price" functionality did not always provide search results when used on some Stadium and Consumable Items.

Gameplay

Made the following changes:

  • Increased the likelihood of a knuckle ball shot occurring when requesting a high powered shot while the ball is 0.67 meters/2.2 feet away from the ball carrier.
  • Added the new Ball Roll Cut 180 Skill Move that can be performed by players with a 4 or 5 star Skill Move rating. The Ball Roll Cut 180 is intended to give players more options when moving with the ball in order to generate space in new situations that can potentially fool defenders. It’s another tool that attackers can use to break down defenses while also another consideration for defenders to plan for. Here’s how to perform this Skill Move on the default controls: Hold L1 (PlayStation controllers) or LB (Xbox controllers) then flick the Right Stick input opposite of the way the ball carrier is facing, then flick it a second time while still holding L1 or LB.
  • Greatly increased the accuracy of low and mid powered Low Driven Shots.
  • Significantly reduced the reach of attempted shot blocks by AI controlled players.
  • Significantly decreased the range required for a defender to attempt a tackle without being requested to do so.
  • Increased the distance between the defender and the ball carrier when the defender is requested to Contain or Teammate Contain.
  • Slightly increased the effectiveness of Finesse Shots in potential goalscoring situations in which the ball carrier is not under heavy pressure from a defender or goalkeeper.
  • Increased the speed at which the ball travels at following a low or mid powered header. Lower powered headers are more likely to produce a lower ball trajectory.
  • Increased the speed at which the ball travels at following a chipped header.
  • Lowered the ball trajectory that can result from a chipped header.
  • Slightly increased animation speeds when dribbling, Agile Dribbling, and Strafe Dribbling.
  • Slightly increased the animation speed of Reverse Stepover, Stepover, and Body Feint Skill Moves.
  • Slightly reduced the reach of attempted shot blocks by human controlled players.

We can only repeat ourselves... These are some crazy gameplay changes in JULY! In July! Why not half a year ago, EA? Well better late than never, right? The buffs on the R1 shots are totally unnecessary because they're already OP differently anyway. If you time the thing green it's usually in anyway. The skill move buffs and the nerf of the auto-blocks are really good. Finally that's getting better!

This is how the new skill move, the Ball Roll Cut 180 looks in action:

This is what the new knuckle ball shots look like:

VOLTA

Addressed the following issue:

  • One of the default Avatars was not wearing shoes on the selection screen, and if that Avatar was selected, shoes could not be equipped to them.

What Is The Latest Patch In FIFA 22?

The current FIFA 22 version is Title Update 17. If you haven't downloaded the update yet, we recommend that you do so. Otherwise, no online matches are possible.

Will The FIFA 22 Gameplay Be Patched?

YES! The FIFA 22 gameplay has been patched! Title Update 14 was the biggest gameplay update in recent months.

For FIFA 22 we don't expect many more patches and updates, Title Update 16 was tiny.

How Has The Gameplay Of FIFA 22 Changed?

If you played FIFA 22 from day one on, you will remember the totally overpowered R1 shots outside the box. Back then, every shot really went in, and you didn't even need a green timed finish for it. The goalkeepers were also nerfed in the course of the year, which was necessary. Every shot on goal inside the penalty area was saved, even if it had gone perfectly into the corner.

Patch 1.16 was also a big update that fixed the corner bug and adjusted the passing game. At the end of the season, EA adjusted the goalkeepers once more. It really feels like they are never perfect anyway, and you can always improve their behavior on the pitch.

Like every year, there were ups and downs after the patches this year. Overall, however, the gameplay of FIFA 22 has developed positively and is still fun.
