Flashpoint league’s regular season is due to begin tomorrow and after many struggles and delays in completing the team sheet, the organizers finally revealed all twelve organizations that will take part.
Less Founding Members for Flashpoint Season 1
When the announcement of Team Envyas the seventh Founding Member came by last week, we shared our concerns that the promised ten partnered teams would not be gathered in time for the start of Flashpoint league. As it turns out, we were right.
Let’s start with the good news. An eighth Founding Member has been confirmed – FunPlus Phoenix. The not so good news is that the organization doesn’t even have a CS:GO roster at the moment which is far from ideal with the league’s first games fast approaching.
Now for the really bad part. As if Flashpoint’s failure to assemble enough partnering organizations wasn’t enough, teams already in the league started dropping out too. BIG Clan, who had won a league spot through the Global Qualifier, have withdrawn from participation. What makes this even worse is the reasoning behind that decision which, according to most sources, is them joining the ESL Pro League.
The scrimmage for the top teams was unanimously won by ESL once the Louvre Agreement was made public but things are getting out of hand now with even more orgs jumping the Flashpoint ship.
In addition to the eight Founding Members, the 12-team roster of Season 1 will also include Orgless – the second team to survive the Global Qualifier, and three invited teams. Those are HAVU, Chaos and Copenhagen Flames, all of whom participated in the qualifier as well.
With that, the complete team sheet is looking like this:
- Dignitas
- Gen.G
- Made in Brazil
- c0ntact Gaming
- Cloud9
- MAD Lions
- Team Envy
- FunPlus Pheonix
- Orgless
- HAVU
- Chaos Esports
- Copenhagen Flames
The schedule for Flashpoint Season 1 is going to be released later today with matches set to begin as early as tomorrow. Let’s hope FunPlus Phoenix are quick on their feet.
