The Chapter 2 island has been flipped, bringing not only a completely new map but also many new functions and features to the game. Among them a brand new slide mechanic and swinging via the Spider-Man's web-shooters.But don't press the queue button just yet, as there are many more new things coming to Fortnite! We already covered that Fortnite is working on both a Tactical Overshield and a Tactical Sprint Mechanic. And now, based on some new leaks, we'll even be able to climb in Fortnite soon! Here come the details.

New Climbing Mechanic in Fortnite.

The leaks come from Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey. He had previously hinted that Epic was working on some sort of climbing feature, but it seems the leaks are now coming to a close. In his YouTube video about the new mechanic, he says:

Epic is working on a new feature that lets you climb mountains, all without building.

In the files, this feature is stored under the name "Climber". We remember when the Slide mechanic was leaked for the first time. These leaks also came from files stored under the same name of the "Slider" feature. iFiremonkey is pretty sure that this code name is legit.

Currently, the files contain effects for dust particles from the Flippin' emote and the sound files for jumping. Clearly pointing to a climbing mechanic of some sort.

It might be possible that Epic will keep the aesthetic of Spider-Man web shooters in the game for a bit after the mythical items are removed.

However, we also know that Epic is working on a no-build mode. There are a lot of mountains and elevations on the Fortnite Island that would be impossible to reach without building. Perhaps the climbing mechanic is to become a feature specifically for this mode.

Whatever it is, we will find out sooner or later and of course, inform you as soon as there is something new.
