Everyone loved Midas. Fans were even more excited when Shadow Midas appeared as a boss on the Fortnite map. However, he was never released in the item store - until now.
Shadow Midas was a boss on the map in the Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge event. Players around the world loved the event and naturally wanted to buy the Shadow Midas skin, but were left holding the candy bag.
To everyone's disappointment, Shadow Midas still hasn't appeared in the item store after it was leaked in the files a year ago. It looks like the skin might finally be released during this year's Halloween event. At least we hope.
Shadow Midas Leaks in Fortnite
There are many clues that point to the return of Midas in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8. In the Fortnite crew packs for September, October, and November, the First Shadows, a group of agents led by Midas, appeared. Each month, a different one of his shadows will be featured, and we'll learn more about Midas' history.
We all know how Epic loves playing with the fans' expectations by hiding little clues everywhere that eventually point to something big. Maybe all the shadows will be introduced first before the leader himself appears in Fortnite.
However, Fortnite leaker Hypex once again provided us with the all-important clue. He announced that Shadow Midas has been "unofficially" added to Fortnite Season 8 with Fortnite Update 18.20. He also revealed that the Shadow Midas skin will be reactive and turn from gold to black as the kill count increases.

Shadow Midas Release Date in Fortnite
Since the Shadow Midas skin is already in the game files, it's only a matter of time before Epic decides to officially release it. At the moment we do not have a release date for the skin and can only assume that it will be added to the game after his last shadow agent has appeared in Fortnite. Who knows, maybe Midas will also become the Fortnite Crew skin for December, so we will just have to wait and see.
