The Valorant Allied Esports Odyssey came to an end over the weekend. FunPlus Phoenix and G2 clashed in the finals and G2 took the champion’s title.
Another title was claimed by G2 Esports in the Valorant Allied Esports Odyssey. The event part of the Valorant Ignition Series kicked off last Tuesday, August 11, and came to an end yesterday, August 16. Despite having only a handful of teams, the tournament was quite entertaining. Four of the participants were high profile organizations that received a direct invitation while the remaining two (ZyppanGoKill and BBL Esports) made it through open qualifiers. A day after the event started, FunPlus Phoenix entered the Valorant scene by signing ZyppanGoKill and its entire roster. Here’s the full list of teams at the Odyssey:
- G2 Esports
- Tea Liquid
- Giants Gaming
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- BBL Esports
- FunPlus Phoenix
In the group stage we saw some surprises as G2 wasn’t the top dog. The Spanish organization suffered defeat at the hands of FPX and ended with a tie Team Liquid and Giants. Team Liquid were the leaders in the groups followed by FPX, G2 and NiP. Giants and BBL were the two teams to go home after the end of the group stage as they didn’t manage to defeat the opposition.
The four remaining teams met in the playoffs and that’s where G2 truly shined. All the series were a Bo1 except for the grand finals which were a Bo3. G2 knocked FPX down to the lower bracket and proceeded to do the same with Team Liquid earning a spot in the finals. FPX managed to climb back from the lower bracket by taking out both Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid. The final match was really one-sided as G2 dominated FPX with 13:5 on Ascent and 13:9 on Bind. G2 claimed another title for their collection continuing their perfect streak.

The team has participated in four events so far and came out as champions in all four. For their first-place finish, G2 earned €6,500 along with keeping the title of undefeated in the region. That’s not something any other Valorant team in the world can say right now, as both TSM and Sentinels have lost at least once.
