Autumn has arrived and the fourth quarter of the year has begun. Also, in October 2020 we can expect some exciting new game releases. We present to you the 7 biggest gaming highlights of the coming month.

The most important game releases in October 2020: While September brought us the racing game surprise of the year – WRC 9 – and a beautiful new RTS with Iron Harvest, there still are some highlights releasing in the coming month before the PS5 and Xbox Series X make their entrance in November.

Super Mario Bros. 35

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch
  • Release: October 1

Super Mario as a Battle Royale? Yeah sure, why not? It worked for Tetris 99 as well. Nintendo reissues the most popular plumber of all time. In Super Mario Bros. 35, 35 players have to simultaneously complete the levels of the cult classic. Anyone who makes a mistake gets fired.

Star Wars: Squadrons

  • Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
  • Release: October 2

If you are familiar with Star Wars and/or have been growing up with the retro X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter titles, this space action game should be an excellent fit for you – as all Battlefront 2 developers are involved.

Squadrons unleashes gigantic space battles in impressive scenery and its extensive multiplayer will bring some long-term motivation. And all of this without any microtransactions. What's going on there, EA? Are you okay, EA?

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's about Time

  • Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One
  • Release: October 2

This is crazy. Not only Nintendo mascot Super Mario, but also former PlayStation icon Crash Bandicoot is making a return. And it even brings a brand-new title!

Dr. Neo Cortex once again mimes the villain who travels back in time – so once again it is up to the Pouch Badger to save the world. Time and dimension portals are included.

FIFA 21

  • Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PS5, XSX
  • Release: October 9

The hottest release of the month will be on October 9 with FIFA 21. Buyers of the Ultimate Edition can start three days earlier. What else should we say about FIFA 21?

The game will accompany us at least until May 2021 and everything points to the fact that it will make us forget about its heavily criticized predecessor. Give it to me already!

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch
  • Release: October 16

A new Mario Kart? Yes, please!

But wait: Home Circuit is not a classic arcade racer, it is an AR game for Nintendo Switch, where we use toy karts from the Mario Kart universe into our home or office to have some real races. Sounds pretty cool, just move your desks out of the way.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

  • Platform: PC
  • Release: October 27

The most important MMORPG of all times finally gets its next expansion. In it, the game tries to reinvent itself again.

This time, paladins, shamans, death knights, and co. will travel to the eponymous lands of the dead of the Warcraft universe. Five new areas, brand-new skills and another maximum level cap are waiting for us.

Watch Dogs: Legion

  • Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, XSX
  • Release: October 29

Ubisoft's hackers return for what is now the third branch of the series. This time, we are transported into a dystopian post-Brexit version of London where we are allowed to take control of every NPC we come across.

With this illustrious troupe of pensioners, supermarket vendors or drug dealers, we then take on the dark forces that have taken control of the British capital. Sounds incredibly ambitious and hopefully it will be good. Or it will offend a lot of people.
