Microsoft bought Activision, but surprise: In a sharing is caring move, they will still bring the games to PlayStation.
Everybody was like 'say it ain't so', and now I am the proud messenger letting you know: It ain't so. Microsoft bought Activision, yes, and Sony screwed up big time, yes, but Sony-Ponys are still getting their Activision fix after all, with the gaming-smiths library seemingly not becoming Xbox-exclusive.
Activision Employee Confirms Activision Games Are Not Microsoft Exclusives
The source is an unlikely one, or at least the name of it is: The Securities and Exchange Commission. Yeah, I didn't know gaming companies had that, and I certainly didn't know that they break news like this. When asked whether the new deal between Activision Blizzard and Xbox would impact existing partners, they said, and I quote:
"We will honor all existing commitments post close. As with Microsoft's acquisition of Minecraft, we have no intent to remove any content from platforms where it exists today."
Yay. Still, after acquiring Bethesda, Microsoft turned the Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield into exclusives, so there's no guarantee that every Activision IP will still be playable on PlayStation. Mind you that the wording is all content that exists 'today'. Future titles obviously don't exist yet, and Minecraft was an already-existing game when Microsoft bought the rights. So while this is good news for now, it doesn't necessarily equal to good news in the future. I can tell you what, though: All of these Activision games will all be on Game Pass, and with our trick, you can get your Game Pass on for just 1$.
Until Sony comes up with a serious competitor... that's your best deal in gaming right now, right there.
