Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December, Hitman 3 in January. What about February? Arguably the first month without a major release since the new-gen of consoles flooded the market, February isn't without its lowkey hype games. Check out what's coming our way in the shortest month of the year on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S!
With how the whole Cyberpunk 2077 thing unfolded, we're not sure whether having a AAA-free month of console releases is all that bad. We feel like some of the titles you're going to read about have the potential to be much more enjoyable than CDPR's disasterpiece. Don't just trust us on merit, judge on your own!
Destruction AllStars
- Release date: February 2
- Platforms: PS5
The last title to confirm its release date, Destruction AllStars is among the first to actually launch. It's a car Royal Rumble basically, which is all we need. What it also is, is a PS+ special. Members can get Destruction AllStars for free until April 5. The cheapest, most effective anger management you're ever going to find.
Control: Ultimate Edition

- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Another PS+ special for the month of February, Control is not a new game. It is, however, a good game. I've always felt it's a mix of BioShock and Resident Evil gameplay and environment-wise (minus the zombies), so that's how I'm gonna pitch it to you. Xbox players are going to miss out on the car-smashing of Destruction AllStars, but they can, uhm, relax with this mind-bending conspiracy story.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood
- Release date: February 4
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
In this brand-new title, you get to fight the big bad company ruining environment. Doesn't sound like much fun? You're a werewolf while doing it. Now that we've got your attention, we must add that this title is not without its skeptics. The story sounds a liiitle shallow, so the combat must reeeally make up for it. You're still a werewolf though.
Nioh & Nioh 2 Remastered
- Release date: February 5
- Platforms: PS5
Nioh and its sequel have one thing in common with Control - they're not new. Everything else is much more similar to Werewolf. An enticing story is not the name of the game with Nioh. What you'll find is intense combat and over the top characters. Just the way we like our Japanese games.
Little Nightmares 2
- Release date: February 11
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Rarely has a title lived up to its content so well as Little Nightmares does. This writer is extremely biased towards this little, pun intended, horror puzzle, but this writer also claims to know a thing or two about gaming. If you're into puzzling adventures, yes that was another bad pun, then LN2 is a must-play. You have my permission to come @ me if you're let down.

Rover Wars: Battle for Mars
- Release date: February 12
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S
You've always been curious of the strategy genre but felt it might be too complicated or boring for you? Then you should give Rover Wars a spin on the Xbox. It's as fun as strategies get without compromising too many of the genre's core mechanics.
Anodyne 2: Return to Dust
- Release date: February 18
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
When an indie title that originally launched in summer 2019 makes it onto next-gen a year and a half later, you should already know that we're talking quality. Try to enjoy the classic mix of combat and puzzles in a mostly 2D environment without tormenting yourself too much for not understanding the plot. Very few people succeed there.
King of Seas
- Release date: February 18
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Pirate up! We're taking to the seas, in case the title did not give it away. You'll come face to face with some of the most popular figures and creatures associated with pirate legends on your way to becoming, wait for it, the king of seas.

Persona 5 Strikers
- Release date: February 23
- Platforms: PS5
For our final stop, we head back to Japan. The crossover title Persona 5 Strikers was kept for local consumption for the first year of its existence but is now making a worldwide entrance on PC and PS5. It can hardly get any more Japanese than this, so if you're into that type of thing, enjoy it.
