The calm after the storm is a nice way to describe the January game release schedule for the new consoles - PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The frenzy of December is going to be hard to replicate, yet there is at least one launch we are particularly interested in. Join us for a rundown of every confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S January release!

January 2021 may not have a game as hyped as Cyberpunk 2077 on its schedule, buuut is that a bad thing really? Hopefully, the lack of suffocating expectations will help these video games do much better than CDPR's product. Let's see what January's got in store!

MXGP 2020

  • Release date: January 14
  • Platforms: PS5

MXGP 2020 was originally supposed to arrive to the PS5 on the same date it did on every other console, including its next-gen brother - the Xbox Series X|S. The motocross simulator could not nail that December 16 deadline, but PS5 fans of the series won't have to wait that long anyway.

Hitman 3

  • Release date: January 20
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

The unquestioned release of the month. Hitman 3 will serve as the closing chapter in the reboot trilogy in the series. The previous two were received very well by critics and fans, so we have reasonable expectations that Agent 47's new adventure will not be a disappointing one.

Ride 4

  • Release date: January 21
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Bike lovers are having one hell of a video game month. The second representative of the genre to come out in January satisfies the other portion of biking and takes us to the tracks. Looks shiny enough to appease even the most demanding person.

The Medium

  • Release date: January 28
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S

The Xbox exclusive The Medium is, to the dismay of PS users - the other high-end launch in January. The psychological horror promises to mix some classic Silent Hill vibes with a modern twist. Are Akira Yamaoka and Dual Reality going to mesh to form a masterpiece? We'll find out in January.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy

  • Release date: January 29
  • Platforms: PS5

The PS5 will have its exclusive title next month as well. It's not exactly The Medium levels of hype, but we're sure fans of thicc gameplay will get their hands on this and have fun with it.
