Odin and the gods of Asgard blessed us today with a new update for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Patch 1.0.4 brings a lot of changes, including graphics options for the next-gen consoles, bug fixes, and AI customizations. Here you can find an overview of the most important changes.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla was released with many fanfares, but like every part of the series, the Viking adventure was plagued by problems. As you are used to from open-world games by now, Valhalla appeared with a lot of bugs and other issues. Some were irrelevant, some pretty bad (memory corruption!), some were just damn funny.

This is now over! At least partly. Ubisoft has released a pretty big patch that solves many of the small and some of the bigger problems. This patch varies in size depending on the platform:

  • PlayStation 5: 2.5 GB
  • PlayStation 4: 4.1 GB
  • PC: 4.3 GB
  • Xbox Series X|S: 5.3 GB
  • Xbox One: 4.9 GB

Below you can find an overview of the most important changes and a link to the complete patch notes!

The Most Important New Features in Patch 1.0.4!

Graphics/Performance Mode

Players of AC: Valhalla on Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 can now finally switch between graphics and performance mode. This feature can be found everywhere and was sorely missed when Valhalla was initially released.

Balancing

The patch is supposed to bring a handful of changes to the balancing, including the correction of incorrect damage and armor displays. Finally the axe has as much damage as it should have officially.

Performance, Stability, Graphics, Memory Levels

Ubisoft announces general improvement in performance and stability. They don't say anything more specific about this, except that there should be (finally!) less screen tearing on Xbox Series X|S. They also announced some graphic improvements, e.g. regarding animation errors and problems with clipping. The patch should also fix some memory problems, especially cloud saves. Oh, we remember back then, when saving was still so uncomplicated.

Gameplay, AI, Quests

With Assassin's Creed Valhalla Patch 1.0.4 there are also many minimal changes to gameplay, AI, and quests. Several problems with the bow are said to have been fixed. NPCs now react when you steal from them (this is not a Bethesda game after all) and guards now react more appropriately to Eivor's prank. Bugs that prevented the completion of some quests are said to be history now. Whether we can finally finish the Asgard quest remains to be seen.

The patch looks promising and we hope that all the fixes can make the game experience of Valhalla better. The complete patch notes can be found on the Ubisoft page or by clicking on the tweet below.
